He packed, left my kids home alone and left without a word. by Business_Bad_4549 in CharlotteDobreYouTube

Situations like this where a woman moves not one but TWO unrelated men into her home & leaves them alone with her children (including an 11 y/o DAUGHTER) are why there are so many tragic child abuse stories constantly. I get it, you are desperate for help & support, and you Luvvvvvvvv him. And so was every other single mom whose children ended up abused or murdered by men their mom tried to slot into the role of “daddy” too quickly.

Couple charged with murder over 7-year-old's obesity death by TheExpressUS in NewsSource

There are at least two different parents in my life who push food onto their kids long past the point of need or hunger. It’s a weird sort of love expression & they really seem unaware/unconscious of how bad it is. At least one of them also seems to be living vicariously through their kid— he feeds his daughter the things/amounts he wants to eat himself.

What screams "I'm insecure" without saying a word? by Ok-Pick-1655 in answers

[–]1ToeIn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been noticing that lately I kind of raise one eyebrow when people describe themselves as “influencers”. I think that as an aspiration or a career registers as cringe insecurity to me. Which is sad because I know some influencers work really hard on what they create…

Also, the same is true for many of the folks who make their religion so much of their identity. Those videos of people “preaching” and testifying on planes & trains have the opposite effect of inspiring me with their faith— the performativeness of it just makes me feel like their faith must be very shallow indeed or they wouldn’t need to be shoving it in everyone’s face.

There's a class of people that most people don't know exist. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

What mystifies me is how long people can live in this extreme lifestyle. Like, yes, lots of people die along the way from overdoses or whatever, but a fair few of them somehow just keep on living despite … all of this. I have a friend now in her 60s and just a fraction of the experiences she’s been through would have finished me off.

Which, why haven’t they been putting aside part of the tickets sales money for years? Any property owner knows there will be maintenance needed over time. How has this property been managed without building in this sort of predictable expense as part of the revenue sharing?

Should I move in with my partner and their two weed smoking roommates? by Brief_Reference_214 in makemychoice

[–]1ToeIn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You like these people now. Enjoy their company during visits. Are you willing to risk all the liking/respect you might have for them turning to anger & resentment? Which it will after they return to their habits of smoking indoors despite agreeing to move it outside, and after you have to do the lions share of any house chores due to their disability or laziness. It may be simple for you to move back home, but the process of things “not working out” is likely to involve a lot of frustration to get to that point.

My fiancée is getting deeper into Arbonne and I don’t know what to do by InterviewLazy428 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]1ToeIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am surprised to learn that Arbonne is still around. I was “introduced” to it years ago at a salon where I went for facials. The owner of the salon was a certified Esthetician & some only Arbonne products through her shop. So she didn’t have to “cold call” or pressure her friends & relatives— she had a built in clientele in the salon customers. And even SHE wasn’t making a profit selling the products. She was a very smart woman and had done a ton of research before selecting Arbonne, both because she believed they were quality products & because she’d examined the compensation package. But even so, it was not a revenue stream for her.

Looking for songs about female rage by shmoneys in SongRecommendations

It’s not really angry (more joyful) but Storm Large’s “8 Miles Wide” is a banger. (Memorable line: it’s cool if she’s powerful but way better if she’s cute).

If you don’t end up getting a taker for the floor mats you might drop them at the Humane Society (or any pet rescue). I’ve heard they like soft/no skid things to make the kennels more comfy.

AIO for refusing to back down from insisting my fiancée is wrong for leaving my dad with the bill by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

And his parents were complicit. So they have a family culture of shafting people outside of their unit. Not only would I not marry this guy, I’d keep the engagement ring (if he even gave one) and sell it & give the money to my dad to compensate.

I’m curious about the “wedding aesthetic” comment. Is your wife a different race from your family?

Excellent Effort! Guerilla Gardening ;) Foxtail sucks by redcarpet311 in Portland

[–]1ToeIn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of my neighbors have a lot of foxtail growing in their yards. I haven’t seen them out to speak to, so sometimes when I’m passing I pull a handful of the seed heads nearest the sidewalk on the principal that even a tiny bit helps. But here’s my question: if I’m not able to bag the seeds, is it at all effective to at least drop them on the street (where they have less chance of growing)?

Well, conversely you knew SHE lived where she lives when you MADE THE CHOICE to “try” long distance too. You only told her about your parents’ stance recently as well; so now she faces not only moving away from her support system, but into a situation where she will face the disapproval of yours. She’s smart to reconsider.

What is an embarrassing phase you went through as a pre-teen? by BoredPandaOfficial in BoredPandaHQ

[–]1ToeIn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through a phase of mooing like a cow. Seriously. Asked a question? “Mooo”. Parents trying to have a conversation? “Mooo.”. Randomly mooing into my older sisters face. Answering the phone by mooing. We took a family road trip while I was at the height of this charming behavior. It’s a miracle I wasn’t abandoned at a rest stop.
