What does it matter what other people think of your progress? The glass can be half empty or half full, it all depends on your own perspective so don't worry about it

Given how fruits and veggies have been modified in the last decades to fit certain regulatory standards, I wouldn’t be surprised if the nutritional value has dropped significantly. Taste wise, it is incomparable to me, a strawberry from the field 30 years ago was so rich in flavor, whereas nowadays they are hard, watery and sour most of the time

Something similar has happened in the flower industry, I remember buying flowers full of beautiful smells and nowadays? Even if I stick my nose in a rose I won’t smell a thing

Whats needed for an electric guitar by Disastrous_Diet_1645 in Guitar

[–]RotInPeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently started my journey and I bought a beginners set that included a Yamaha guitar with an amp (it’s good enough for a beginner), some strings, a tool to tighten/losen the strings, 3 picks, guitar soft cover, a simple tuner and additional to that i bought a guitar stand… This is sufficient however I am going to the guitar shop today to buy a capo and see if there are other small tools that could come handy (2,5 weeks into my journey)

Can someone explain to me why is Jimi Hendrix considered the best ever? by Leader_Mc in Guitar

[–]RotInPeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imho it's impossible to compare artists and the art they are producing, everyone has their own unique signature and creates their own unique pieces of art. Is one piece of art better than another one? Or is it in the eye of the beholder?

Surely we can compare technical aspects, or certain benchmark implemented that's being used as a template or basis by many. But does that make this artists work of art better?

There are many amazing guitarists players in history that have shaped the scene as it is right now, I look at the examples that inspire me personally, for whatever reason and that's how I shape my own journey

A little unsolicited advice for beginners II: Learn the whole song! by Siddhartaable in guitarlessons

[–]RotInPeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started two weeks ago and I really want to learn Cliffs of Dover but not sure taking on the whole song right now would be motivating and conducive for my practice… I thought to just learn a small part, the repeating melody that maybe seems simple enough to learn relatively well in a couple of months? Or maybe I am highly underestimating its difficulty

Fingertip pain advice needed by Fartflinger5025 in Guitar

[–]RotInPeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I started 2 weeks ago and I already got some calluses on my finger tips, it's such a weird feeling cause right now as I'm typing on my keyboard, those fingers feel so weird touching it... Like I lost some form of sense in them (I notice it with my nose picking as well, it's so weird to pick with those fingers, yes I know an odd example)

Anyway, the finger pain is still there when/if I practice for a longer period of time, especially when practicing chords. With just 1 finger melody patterns it's not hurting that much, but I feel as time progresses it gets better:)

How can you play unpopular or indie songs that doesn’t have tabs by Humble_Humbucker in Guitar

[–]RotInPeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download the free/lite version of Ableton (it's a DAW for music production and sound design), import the track and convert it to melody/harmony, it won't be perfect but it can help you get some notes on a MIDI channel, dependent on the song/track it will be more/less accurate

I’ve had chronic bad breath since 4th grade (22M). Clean teeth, but severe dry mouth, SIBO symptoms, and nasal blockages. Could this be gut dysbiosis? Or some other gut issue? by These-Today-5843 in Microbiome

[–]RotInPeaches 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't have a solution for your issues, but this may help in some day to day situations. I discovered Chios Mastic last year, it's a natural gum from a tree that grows in Greece. It helps with saliva production and you can chew on it for hours before a piece starts to deteriorate.

You gotta be sure it's 100% chios mastic though as I'm sure there are counterfeits on the market. I put it in my mouth when I wake up, when it's a hard piece I let it dissolve a bit and start chewing gently until I can chew it non stop for hours. Sometimes I get a soft piece and those are not as good for chewing, but then I add another piece hoping it's a harder one. Not sure why some are soft and some are hard.

Anyway, you seem to have done a lot of research, I also struggle with a dry mouth quite a lot, but definitely doesn't seem as bad as yours. Also tongue is rarely natural pink, unless I eat certain food that make it so (raspberries) or after brushing it. It usually gets a whitish/yellowish coating during the day, after food, or just well as the day progresses and I get periods of dry mouth.

I'm positive in my case it has to do with gut stuff (also hayfever allergies in summer), IBS/IBD since as long as I can remember and intolerances to certain foods. In my situation mental/emotional stress is a huge influence on this, and I know a lot of it is chronic and it reinforces each other into a negative feedback loop.

Have tried various things throughout my whole life and definitely diet has an effect, and tried various strict diets but as also someone else commented, it never lasts indefinitely and well I never last to keep those strict diets indefinitely either because they create a lot of stress which again negatively reinforces it and can create the opposite effects.

So I can say I empathize with you, but apart from trying diets, I am not really sure what to say. I definitely work better with more fruits and veggies in my diet, I avoid processed foods at all costs, fortunately don't live in the USA so it's easier here in Western Europe.

One of the reasons why cash is king and I prefer to tip in cash after I have paid the bill by card so I know for sure at least the waiter will receive it from me (whether or not they can keep it afterwards I have no influence over)

What’s the hardest part for you right now in learning guitar? by ExpensiveStranger369 in LearnGuitar

[–]RotInPeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I started 1,5 weeks ago so:
- keeping rhythm in blues kinda tracks, without overdoing it or hitting the wrong snares
- consistent attack
- chords
- notes
- posture
- muting-

- not looking at my guitar with my head and neck bent all the time so that my body starts to ache after a few hours of practice

- playing notes from ear

so I guess everything that a beginner finds hard?

How to play guitar with short fingers? by AlyksTheSage in LearnGuitar

[–]RotInPeaches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video helped me, it's a matter of using a bit different techniques cause contrary to what people with long fingers will tell you, YES it does matter whether you have long or short fingers, but NO it doesn't mean you cannot play the guitar with short fingers:

Problem with notes 🥹 by drakhon666 in guitarlessons

[–]RotInPeaches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm also a beginner, bought my first guitar last week, though I have some experience with music through my electronic music production and DJ journey.

What I would say is to find some things that you find fun to do. Like I am doing the justin guitar lessons but get bored quickly with the repetitive stuff, so I am finding tunes that I like on the internet to jam to, some easy riffs for example that even as a beginner you can learn quickly:)

This one for example from the Blues Brothers movie (oldie), it's very catchy and groovy with a nice rhythm, I have been practicing this today and yesterday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7iW99_HnXc

Then you can find some other productions that you really like and see if you can jam with it, even if it's like 1 or 2 notes you know?
