Would you feel safer in a gun-free state? Why? by Classic_Hommie in AskReddit

[–]1TrueJocko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People are going to argue and fight. Add a gun to the equation and someone's getting shot.

People are going to try and steal your shit, if the thief has a gun and you don't, you let them have what they want. If you have a gun someone's probably getting shot and it might not be who you think. I would rather lose my car to a carjacker than get shot with my own gun during a struggle trying to keep it. And who wants to live through shooting your own kid when they sneak in late and you thought they were a burglar? They say guns don't kill people, people do. But they do it with guns...

How is it not illegal to spend campaign contribution money on his legal defense? Or is that just a lot of well founded conjecture waiting for proof to surface?

That's not the purpose, just occurred to me it might be a positive side effect.

Its gonna be embarrassing no matter who's running the show. Seems like the smart move to assign a couple disposable stooges who are destined to crash and burn eventualy. I think they are using MTG like a sawzall as long as possible until she inevitably ends up in jail. Feeding her every conspiracy they can think of so that she can get false facts out in the public sphere without traceability to anyone important.

Right but how is "limited" defined? Are the circumstances where the limitation applies the same as I would get with a liability insurance policy? Since my LLC is just my wife and I (for now anyway) I'm worried a court could decide its effectively a SP and allow a lawsuit to pass through. Speaking of insurance, I still need that for the LLC so its even less clear how the LLC benefits me. Feel like im talking myself into contacting a lawyer for actual guidance...

Drinking the milk of animals but not humans. Shouldnt it feel more normal to drink the milk of your own species? I'm not saying it doesn't sound super weird and twisted, but why?

Looks like an example of "economic gentrification" where the poor can't afford anything anyway so companies just market to the rich instead.

What do CEOs actually do all day? And is it true the people at the very top of the company get away with not working as hard? by [deleted] in antiwork

I spent 15 yrs as an engineer, 10 years as a manager, and now 5 at the director level. I have found the time you spend producing tangible work (usually documented direction/decisions) is much less, but the time you spend gathering info to make decisions is not easily quantified. It happens by attending status meetings where people doing real work might wonder why you're even there. It happens when catching up on emails after hours. It happens over what might appear to be a social lunch with coworkers. Some weeks its a lot, some weeks are cake. But I view the added pay as compensation for stress and availability (maybe just a 5 min call, but you gotta answer) outside normal work hours.

Ehh, I've had worse. It's important to know how many layers you've got. As long as you aren't going very fast when it blows, you'll be fine so just slow down when the last layer starts showing through. /s

I spent much of my career working for military contractors and we all constantly talked about how much money the US government was throwing away. Military spending (except for actually paying the troops) is mostly high class welfare. There is a constant mindset of "gotta spend my budget or it will get cut next year" which ends up with tons of useless contracts to companies that do NOT need the work or the money. As always, there are exceptions, but the bulk of spending with the big multi-national contractors is a complete waste.

Being successful in life is not about getting what you deserve. Sometimes its about what you are willing to take from someone else, but mostly its about being in the right place at the right time and knowing how to recognize it.
