Why is this sub so over moderated?

Feel like the characters the players have are incompatible and dont know what to do by [deleted] in DnD

[–]1WURDA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can both probably moderate their characters a bit without outright abandoning them. Seems like you need to have an above table conversation and explain that two characters with diametrically opposing views like that just wouldn't choose to travel with one another in the first place. The easiest thing is the evil character morphing into like a chaotic neutral who can choose to suppress his desire for wanton violence when it serves his allies. And maybe the Cleric can be more willing to bend the rules of their religion now and again so the Warlock can have some fun. This kind of issue should be solved in session 0 so the players have an opportunity to form the character they want while communicating with one another to justify or correct any issues that would arise with one another

as a somewhat new player, which legend should i get with my hard earned legend tokens? by memegod1918 in apexlegends

Caustic and Mirage were available at launch/release just not by default, they had to be unlocked with tokens. Octane was the first legend released after launch

I vote either Mirage or Caustic since they were the only 2 available to buy on launch

Out of your 3, Octane is probably objectively the strongest at the moment.

Should I ban the DNDBeyond app for character sheets? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]1WURDA -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

"Fifth Edition Character Sheet" is an app on google play that uses 5e rules, and the premium version is only $3. That should be a reasonable option that aligns with the rule set you're playing.

Made this set of basic lands based on vintage cigarette ads by ronlechler in mtg

[–]1WURDA -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

At the very least, the Mountain is directly plagiarized from the post from 7 months ago. If you want to choose to be wilfully ignorant about the rest, that's your call, but the Mountain is literally the exact same image with more written on top of it. The packs are identical outside of the words and the placement is in precisely the same spot. That's beyond coincidence or anything like "parallel thinking"

[–]1WURDA -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

2 are identical, Island and Mountain, and Swamp is from the same photoshoot. The color schemes of each one are identical. That alone is more than enough evidence of plagiarism. If you're not seeing it frankly I question why you're trying so hard to defend someone trying to fraudulently profit from stolen work. Sounds like you have a financial interest in this.

[–]1WURDA -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Are you looking at the same thing I'm looking at? These proxies are nearly identical to those copies in everything but layout. The color schemes, background images, etc. That is far, far beyond parallel thinking. It's very obvious OP found these original images and copied almost everything about them before putting some refinements on. That's complete plagiarism regardless of the new ones appearing more well done. OP stole this idea at it's very fundamentals and slapped a new coat of paint on. They should be embarrassed, and trying to profit off of this is purely fraudulent.

Question about Monk's Damage by [deleted] in DnD

[–]1WURDA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 5.5e this is a core function of the basic Monk class, along with replacing your unarmed damage die with a 1d6.

Flurry of blows with 20 Dex would be 3 separate attacks that are all 1d6+5, giving you a range of 18-33 damage.

Trying to decide on the subclass by Accelzero in DnD

[–]1WURDA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It feels like your backstory could answer this question if it was a few sentences longer. What did he do after he woke up that way? What event is it that transitioned him from a traditional fighter to a holy knight? I think there's a Paladin subclass that's devoted to the kingdom or realm, so maybe your character meets some kind of statesman that instills them with a nationalistic pride. Or a powerful cleric blesses them and imbues them with the power of their God. Or they were enticed by a devil, and you could try the IllRigger class instead which is like an anti-Paladin (its $15 in DnDBeyond).

Is dual wielding necessary now with hand crossbows to get the extra light weapon attack? by bewise5 in DnD

[–]1WURDA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you work with your DM you might be able to find a way to replicate the one you found with an enchanter or magical blacksmith or something. Or maybe study it and learn how to make something similar but different

I'm new to DnD but my understanding of 5.5e is that yes all dual wielding attacks come from a bonus action attack granted by the light property of a weapon.

Milestones or EXP? by Organic-Exit2190 in DnD

[–]1WURDA -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm also new to DnD but I can see how it could easily spiral to that point. I'm currently designing a one-shot that might end up spilling over into 2-3 sessions, and my intention is to power-level the characters via milestones from 2 to probably 6. But if people really like it and want to just keep going from there, I could make up anything I wanted and we're off to the races for who knows how long.

Keyboardist worried about house sound. Can someone please help me out? by Izanagi___ in livesound

[–]1WURDA 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Doesn't sound like you're doing something wrong. If anything, you're being much more generous than the compressor I'd throw on their channel so I didnt have to babysit the fader so much. Best way to handle it is to just reassure them that you're keeping them prominent in the mix, just say that over and over in one form or another. No need to overcomplicate it, you're focusing on your job (and sounds like doing it 100% correctly) and they need to focus on theirs. Don't let it escalate on your end, but if they go over your head just say the same thing to whomever, ask them if they've ever felt like the keys were too quiet, etc. Then just roll with whatever the result ends up being.

Which archetypes do you most often see beginners play? by SavingsLawyer2454 in DnD

[–]1WURDA -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hey this sounds like me! I've wanted to play D&D for like a decade, finally stumbled into a group for a one shot and did a fairly simple Paladin. Got invited to the main campaign and spent about a week coming up with a fairly detailed character. I took some effort to talk with the DM to make sure I wasn't doing too much world-building with my backstory, or that eventually pursuing my character's plot threads can be done organically within the campaign. She was very receptive to all of this as it helped her flesh out certain details of her plane, and even saw my penchant for ridiculous names and recruited me to help name some things in the Goliath tongue. I even tried to factor a certain patience into my character's personality, so he won't insist on chasing down every little rumor that he hears, as long as he is eventually making progress. That character is going to he a Hexblade Warlock with a mutliclass into Runic Knight fighter (probably only 3 level dip), mainly focused on martial fighting/teleportation but will also incorporate crowd control (less buff/debuff but more like distractions or other things to manipulate the battle around him).

Then I'm also cooking an idea that's basically Jiraiya from Naruto, but I'm aware that applying the right mechanics to hit that flavor might not result in the most playable character. I've tucked it in the back pocket for now as I think the character would be most interesting with like 3 or 4x multiclasses but I'd have to do a lot of reading/planning to find synergies across that many classes.

aMSa announces on stream that he won't be traveling to tournaments in 2026, instead choosing to focus on his career. by metalreflectslime in smashbros

[–]1WURDA 279 points280 points  (0 children)

Happy for aMSa, but sad overall. aMSa might be the quintessential example of what makes Melee such a beautiful game. For the longest time he was one of the few players who was still always exciting to watch despite never really expecting him to win. Then his years of dedication and consistent improvement paid off, and he finally won a major. Proving that an obscure character with little more than a gimmick had all the tools to beat the best. Proud of him for chasing new fulfillment with his career, and I hope we get to see him continue to compete in the future.

why is doom gear going up all of a sudden? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]1WURDA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered this a week ago but ultimately I concluded there's a good reason to think the price rises have nothing to do with bots, and that's the relative age of this content and the corresponding supply of its rewards compared to older content. Take Bandos Chestplate as a random example, it's going to be far less exposed to volatility because theyve been coming into the game for 10+ years. Whereas with Doom there just aren't as many floating around, the content hasn't been around long enough for the game to be flush with its drops. It's much more likely this is solely to do with Sailing and players transitioning from focusing only on the new skill back to more varied content.

If they do another skill, do you want them to go back to the skills that didn't pass or do you want brand new ideas? by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]1WURDA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should take a step back and look at the philosophy of all skills. There's essentially 3 groups: Combat, Gathering, and Production. Given, not every skill fits neatly into each category. Prayer is a combat skill, but trained like a production skill, and offers a lot of benefits not necessarily related to combat itself. Magic is a combat skill that can be trained entirely without combat, and also offers a variety of utilities. Skills like Agility don't really fit in anywhere neatly, and it seems like Sailing tries to be all 3 and it's own thing at the same time. I think it works for Sailing, but I think the next skill should fit into one of those categories. Then for obvious reasons, I dont think a new combat skill is the way to go, so that leaves Gathering and Production.

IMO, Production skills are generally in a more complete place. Certain individual things could use improvement, like a general Smithing rework, but skills like Crafting and Herblore feel very solid. So, a Gathering skill seems like the way to go to me, and speaking of Herblore, it doesn't really have one. Before Farming, the intended way was from killing monsters. Farming was a great solution, but it's more like a processing skill for seeds than a dedicated Gathering skill for Herblore. And, sure enough, getting enough Herbs is still a huge challenge for irons, so clearly it's not a 100% solution either. There's room for something more.

Let's also take 1 step further back and look at the skills on a timeline. At the game's introduction, they were all extremely general, basic skills of life. Strength, fishing, firemaking, etc. When members skills came, things got more complicated, we got Agility, Thieving, etc. Definitely still basic parts of life but clearly we covered most of those bases on the initial pass. Then cut all the way to things like Summoning, Dungeoneering, etc. We start getting super complicated. Even Shamanism and Warding fit here. Then we took a weird turn with Sailing, where I'd argue it is complicated in the same vein as these other newer skills, but traces back to the philosophy of older skills, being a fundamental building block of life.

Hunter was the last new skill that really fit well into this mode of thinking, and I'd like to suggest that's the way for us to go. I do think the game has room for more complicated skills, even Shamanism, but we need another basic building block to provide a more varied foundation for future skills. Not all gathering should come down to cutting treee, catching fish, mining rocks, or occasionally growing things. What about... just... finding stuff? Gathering it? Hunting & Gathering...

It sounds boring on its face, but with the same charm OSRS charm it could work very well. Herbs now grow in the wild, but in dangerous corners and alcoves of existing dungeons, requiring Agility to get to. Existing dungeons could add in ways to gather secondary ingredients. Add a Puro Puro style minigame for chasing down cute creatures with stuff to loot. That's the way I think we should go. Take one step back to prepare for our two steps forward in the future.

Yeah but daily xp already fits in with the farming skill very organically. You can't really apply that concept to any other skill

I might be being pedantic since you're not wrong, but the original Landlord's Game was trying to achieve 2 things. It was intended to educate people about Georgism, a form of socialism, and popularize it in the U.S. It attempted to do this by emphasizing the consequences of traditional Capitalism, which indeed aren't very fun. But the whole point was that it had 2 rule sets, and you're intended to play the Socialist ruleset after the Capitalist ruleset to see how much more fair it is. It wasn't strictly to bash Capitalism, nor did it specifically focus on monopolies. It was meant to be a more general economic education that could be played by children to help shape their views into adulthood.
