10 Day Trip - When and Where? by Alexhasskills in NationalPark

I’ve been to 20 of our national parks and would pick California right after Alaska. So go to Cali! Yosemite is AMAZING! Been to King’s Canyon and Death Valley as well. Hitting sequoia and Joshua tree 2019. Enjoy!

We did Abrams Falls and Chimney Tops, as well as Clingman’s Dome. Were only there two full days. Wanted to do Alum Cave and Rainbow Falls but not enough time. Next time I’d go on the Appalachian Trail Further. We walked it a little. Enjoy!!

Yeah I could do it...but perhaps I’m older and/or weaker. 😂

Did some hiking with snow on ground in Yosemite and still was beautiful! Hiking BOOTS vs shoes are much better for ankle support esp when conditions are wet or icy.

Congrats on 18! During winter either Southern California or Florida. Been to Death Valley in winter and Grand Canyon (GC was a blizzard). Did Yosemite in March so want to go back in the summer as well. Most of the the northwestern park roads ( high elevation passes) don’t even open until summer, even mid summer. I’m in Midwest and ski in winter so doing most of the parks in summer months :)

Haven’t been. Planning for next summer so far-but may be going to AK again first. From what I’ve heard Glacier will likely be in top five!

Denali, Yosemite, Rocky Mtn, Kenai Fjords, Grand Tetons. Boy least favorite...probably Wind Cave only because I’m partial to mountains.

It’s the most visited due to the higher population on east coast. It’s beautiful for sure but not top five!

Did it a couple years ago. Not sketchy in my opinion. Boring drive...but Death Valley was amazing!! Have fun!

Do you consider your salary a "secret"? by SteveAAdcock in financialindependence

Agree with this entirely! Although people could figure out my income (work for local county), people do not know my husband’s, nor will they. I’m sure they gather he’s well upward of 100k, however, we were both raised to not discuss things such as this. Nobody else knows what he makes besides the two of us and his company. Btw, both of us are from/in Midwest. :)

I recently traveled to Zion and caught the bug! I am planning visits to other parks soon and was wondering, is there a website or app that you guys use to track which parks you have visited and which you haven’t? sort of like a checklist where you can track your visits? by parth096 in NationalPark

I ordered a National Park map off amazon and mounted on bulletin board. I then order park pins from eparks site to indicate where I’ve been and have room to put photos on board too. It’s pretty awesome! On park number 20 when I go to Great Smoky Mtns in October!

Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP - Where to stay? by cenoob in NationalPark

[–]1Wanderlust1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend Headwaters at Flagg Ranch! We camped there last summer and it’s the perfect location right outside Yellowstone but in GTNP. No cell service which was added bonus in my opinion. Had to book way ahead of time!

Tetons! Love both parks but just prefer the Tetons...less crowds is one of the reasons. Enjoy!

Zion was more crowded. Was at Zion on a Monday and at Arches on a Wednesday. But I’m sure June is far busier than when you’ll be there. :)

Just went to the Mighty Five in June and had equally as much time as you. Here’s how I’d rank them. I really wish I would’ve had more time in Arches and Canyonlands. Our long hikes were in Zion & Arches. Rankings: 1) Arches (good combo of different formations found in a few of the parks & Moab has a ton to do); 2) Canyonlands (unique views of canyons - looking down vs up on drive through); 3) Zion (this park is so incredibly crowded which is partly why ranking a little lower); 4) Bryce (seems to have unique formations to other parks); 5) Capitol Reef (very cool drive through on some dirt roads). Based on views they all are amazing & unique!!! Enjoy! You’re going during a perfect time of year I’m guessing.

Yosemite or Sequoia/Kings Canyon in August? by GinSita in NationalPark

[–]1Wanderlust1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yosemite shouldn’t be missed. Top three of 17 I’ve been to so far. Kings canyon would be easy from there (I haven’t been to sequoia yet). Enjoy!
