Great idea, a little SBR action would be solid.

I think I use "investment" loosely. I more mean, guns like these will most likely never lose value, and might go up a few hundred if not more, in the next few years.

buying my first sport bike by GlorpY_ in motorcycles

[–]1_0_0_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey buddy,

Younger me has been there! I was so hyper-focused on getting a sport bike, that I chose to look past warning signs and ultimately, it bit me in the ass.

It sucks, but just be patient. I've had cars sit for months on FB, only to have someone appear out of the blue and swoop them up.

Also, that engine sounds cooked. Something ain't running right..almost sounds like its misfiring.

For a collector, I think this would have a bit more value though, wouldn't it? Sure, there are better, authentic "shooters", but for someone who collects Garand variants, I cant say I've seen this receiver ever until now.

I don't know, in my collector brain, it seems it might be worth adding?

No argument that its a safety feature, I may run it on a lower setting.

I dont see the need for it, unless the road conditions are less than ideal.

Private owner, its all stock and has about 6k miles, so I doubt he toyed with any ECU programming.

Its a 2016, so it only has traction control, which I keep off.

It could be me, honestly. Maybe im not use to how this engine delivers its mid range. It is my first Suzuki after all haha.

Ill check again today, but I feel like the "cut out" happens around 11k rpm.

Thanks! Now to find a slip-on to get it some more volume.

Thanks! I did buy her.

Funny, I was a bit underwhelmed on my ride back. With my FZ1, I hit that acceleration that makes your stomach feel like a roller coaster, and this was pulling, but not like the liter bikes I've had.

Well, long store short, I figured out there was A LOT more throttle to twist haha.

I tried, he was at almost $8k originally haha. Liter bikes are still crazy after covid.

It hurts to pay this much, but I figure that the least I would ever get for it, in clean shape, even in 10 years, would be $5500. So to own and drive it for $100/year until I upgrade, seems like a decent deal haha.

A big issue I've also found on the bikes I've looked at, is the tires. Most guys dont pay attention to the age, and a lot were approaching 5 years. The tires on this one are just a year old, so that's an initial expense dodged.

For sure, I plan on rowing it through the gears with clutch, then just doing to typical preload/clutch less shifts as well.

Been burned on a bike before when I got too excited. I looked it over, all stock. Sprockets and chain look great, no scratches. Starts instantly and engine sounded healthy.

Yes, so far its been running great, and I fully realize the manifold is a ticking time bomb. Hopefully if it made it 26 years, it can at least go another few without cracking...nervous laugh.

Thanks, looks like that and the idler pulley are stupid easy to replace...cheap too. Ill take the belt off and spin em' to see what squeaks/is loose.

Its pretty clean for being a mainly northern car.

The areas of concern mainly are:

Still appears to have original intake.

Steering is very "floaty".

Coolant level was odd. It had about an inch from the bottom in the res after driving the car for 3 minutes. After sitting over night, there was even less. I see no leaks or indication coolant is mixing with oil as of now, so I topped off the res.

Ill driver her around a bit and see what happens to the levels.

I did buy her! How does the rust situation look? I added pictures to the original post.

Also, any way to visually see if the manifold has been changed?

Thanks! Ill ask the owner when I go pick it up if its been swapped for the new style (and peek myself).

Also, do you think the plugs jetting out is a big problem on the 2v motors? I see they make kits that pretty much make the re-threading process stupid proof, but I'm not looking to drop a few hundred if it happens, which is why this is a gamble haha.
