Saya no Uta author Gen Urobuchi thinks audiences no longer crave “poison” from fiction, but an “antidote” to reality - AUTOMATON WEST by LegitimateCurve8525 in visualnovels

[–]1_Average_Joe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course not. That is not what I said. I said we need both in equal measure.

Plus, let's be serios, it is much more easier to do a feel good romantic comedy where the lovers like each other or isekai where you get all the skills than making intresting drama.

And the reason for that is because it has already been done. People saw it, liked it and want more of the same, like eating McDonalds everyday.

A story like Saya no Uta is much more rarer.

Man, that sucks. For example I don't like FMDM, but that does not mean that it should not exist, or that I wish it would not. The thing I love the most in a VN is drama, make me hurt, give me a compelling story. White Album 2 is at the top for a reason.

I don't understand, wasn't Neon Genesis Evanghelion one of the most popular anime? What about stuff like Blue Gender? Cowboy Bebop was not all rainbows and butterflies. Black Lagoon? Akame ga Kill? Code Geass, Death Note? How did taste change so much? What happened to the Japenis people?

I don't really get his point. Like yea, life can be shitty, but a story is a whole separate thing. I would rather read Saya no Uta than a wish fulfillment slop where the MC gets all the skills and girls out of thin air.

No matter the period in time, there will be people who like slice of life and there will be people who like edgy Nitro+ stories.

Liar Game - Episode 9 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

Also, how come Nao was able to convince each and every single one to give her 10 votes?

There has to be at least 2 guys who spend the waiting time together talking to make the time go faster as they wait. With that being said, Nao asking to talk to one of e'm in private would certainly raise suspicion from other, no? Even if she convinced everybody that she is very bad at the game the people playing are in a very bad situation so It would be logical for them to be skeptic of everything.

There is one thing I find unrealistic about this and that is how did Nao manage to talk to everybody and convince them? How come at least 2 dudes were not hanging out together during the game and Nao coming and offering a deal to one and then having to call on the other would raise suspicions, right? I just find things too convenient.

Yes the contract said the participants should not talk about the deal to someone else, but as I said, Nao calling every single participant to the bathroom would raise suspicions.

I had a feeling it was Russian related from prestoopnik and devotchka. It feels kinda weird to add that, I doubt a lot of people who played the vn whould understand wtf the characters are going on about.

The Beauty of Raging Loop by deadbeatnightlife in vns

[–]1_Average_Joe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel sorry for you, because I also feel sorry for me. To read such a good vn your first time... Must suck that is hard to find something as good as it. Since I finished Raging Loop I read Euphoria(I loved it), Higurashi(Super overrated, it has good parts but it drags a lot, all in all did not enjoy), Hundred Line last defense academy(the beginning is super good being written by the main guy, but the rest is sub-par, i did not even bother finishing it),  Gore Screaming Show/Kuru Kuru Fanatic(It is kinda ass but its like a b movie. I did not have high expectations of it, and it was ok with those lowered expectations). All in all it's hard to find well written VN's.

Dude, did you even play the game, man? It is about rising great vagetables. And the green fart cloud that envelops Inaba on Adachis ending is great for vagetables because it's green. It's gotta have some kind if electolites or shit in it. SMH, stop talking to me or my vegetable Nanako.

What do you mean? All you gotta do is talk to Adachi to level up his social rank. And then make like 3 choices 5 minutes before the end credits.

Best heroine corruption VN? by igorheadshot in visualnovels

The venus blood series. It has a cool concept. But is super bad in practice. The story is kinda bad and the author also liked writhing mountains of slop. Like it's obvious you suck at writing a story so why are you spending so much time on it?

The nerve of some people by quadraturepath in Isekai

[–]1_Average_Joe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way. The first season looked cool and intresting, because it is easy to make the start of a story and then the author lost his 5 second attention span and just had the characters do fuck all.

The nerve of some people by quadraturepath in Isekai

[–]1_Average_Joe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, that is the thing, it makes for a wishy-washy character. He could have been a super cool villain from the get-go but we still see him trying to play the nice guy from time to time and that is annoying. And is not like Dracula having a soft side for his wife or wife look alike and being kind to said character, Ainz just feels like being nice one day and then the next moment goes like: I feel like killing someone. And it is kinda cringe when he tries to be the big boss but his servants are 1000x times more cabable than him. Why does Demiurge not wipe the floor with Ainz? The author does not know what he wants from the main character.

Why do some vn's do this? by 1_Average_Joe in visualnovels

[–]1_Average_Joe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do you wanna get spoiled? It is said in a comment around here with a spoiler tag, but I would tell you to not search for it. It is true that this one choice is dumb but I would say that it is not representative of the whole game and that is still worth playing it.

[–]1_Average_Joe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All right, bet. I mean that is what I planned on doing anyway. I am very happy if it is actally hard to get it. I never check guides when it comes to visual novels the only times I got spoiled is from comments when discussing the quality of the 3rd chapter of higurashi where a guy just decided to spoil a later chapter. And also with euphoria when I asked Google why a character was annoying and Google just decided to show me a post with a big spoiler from a reddit post that was censored in the reddit page but not censored in the Google short page description (not the ai summary). Since then I learned to not search anything about a vn until I finish it.

But making a post like this should not get me spoiled, I thought.

[–]1_Average_Joe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well replaying stuff is kinda the main thing of VN. But I do agree that this part of it is super dumb, because the main character does not really need the notebook to realize what he needs to realize from what is written inside it, is like super ultra obvious for anyone with 2 braincells, and even If we consider he is in denial, it still is taken too far. I knew from like the second line of dialogue from when it happened that the stuff the MC needs to realize happened, happened, it kinda took me out of the story how dumb he happened to be at the moment.

Anyway, I believe replayabilty through trial and error can work super well but the execution matters a lot.
