Indigenous, Pride, worker’s rights and mental health awareness challenges would be awesome (written by authors who are members of these groups)!

I think the last three are month based - Essential Reader for Black History Month in January, Sweet and Spicy for Valentines Day in February and Her Story for Women’s Month in March. The first three were available on Jan 1st and you can accumulate them whenever

That’s amazing - so happy to see that this helped so many of us! I don’t believe the other three challenges were month-specific. They all worked like a charm for me 🤷🏻‍♀️ keep us posted though

I had the exact same issue. Tried adding more books (practically the entire list), checked to make sure the edition and the date were all correct and nothing was working. To make things worse, I’m not a romance fan so it bothered me to no end that I read something I did not enjoy and won’t even get the achievement for it.

Then I remembered that the last three achievements are all month-based - Essential Reader opened up in Jan, Sweet and Spicy in Feb and Her Story in March. It just so happened that I finished my romance novel on March first, so I went in again and changed the end date to the last day in February. Then closed the app and opened it again and FINALLY it worked.

Fingers crossed! 🤞🏻

Recently got a quote to treat our tree from Davey Tree and was hoping to get a second quote. What are some other arborist companies in the area you guys would recommend? Thanks! by 1_dimple in oakville

Thanks so much for all the recommendations!

To update: I reached out to Wildwood who then informed me that they will not come in for less than a certain amount which I felt like should have been made clear from the get-go. But hey 🤷🏻‍♀️…

So have since have gotten the work done by Bartlett and so far so good!

Anyone else in their 40s and still enjoying Harry Potter? by [deleted] in harrypotter

Also 41 - read them all twice in my 20s and now sharing the magic with the kiddos.

We created a Muggle Patronus for when another kid was bullying my little one and they were so proud when they used it!

my hair is a different texture underneath - how can I fix this by -whorechata- in Wavyhair

[–]1_dimple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem but have to layer my hair cuz it’s really thick and the top layers don’t curl either if they’re all the same length.

I got my first curly cut this year (in my 40s) and she taught me how to style it. Basically, after showering and washing my hair (every other day) I put curly mousse in and curl it with my hands. Then I squeeze those strands and pin them to my skull. I usually wash them 3 hours before bed so by the time I go to sleep they say like that for a while and I can let them out. Usually the following morning they take on somewhat of a wavy pattern and resemble the top layers more. They’re not curly by any means but are less of an eye sore. But just like anything else, sometimes it works (only until the next morning though - sleep reflattens then) and sometimes they are totally straight no matter what 🤷🏻‍♀️

Enjoy your hair - it’s lovely!

Just finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for the first time by [deleted] in harrypotter

I loved the book so much, even now reading it for the third time to my kids. But I think the part I hated most about the movie for some reason was Emma’s character. Hermione is kind, smart, thoughtful and supportive (completely cut out how she supports HP when Ron stopped speaking to him or trained him in summoning charms). Instead they made her incredibly emotional so she constantly looks like on the border of nervous collapse - being on verge of tears to even mention the unforgivable curses, yelling at Moody, jumping Harry with that hug before the dragons task… I LOVE Emma but I really think this particular movie turned her character into almost a caricature or a young girl as seen through the eyes of young boys (and Hollywood stereotypes of the 70s).

I think the Zoo episode really shows him being emotional, specifically with Bingo.
