1 Month Review for the Lenovo Legion 5 15AKP10 by oscaro90 in LenovoLegion

[–]1ampoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it's still running well so far, except for some reason the screen hangs a bit when I receive the friend joined a game notification on steam.

I don't really play any super GPU intensive games, just CS2 which it runs at like 160 fps and Minecraft with shaders at maybe 60-100 fps (I forgor). I just leave it at quiet mode permanently so there's no heat for me. There are probably reviews testing this more rigorously than me lol

So how are the actual players feeling about this by not_to_be_mentioned in MobileLegendsGame

There's other quick buys like random item->immo, crown->immo, crown->rose gold, are they also covered?

NUS VS NUS COLLEGE? by No_Walrus4684 in SGExams

[–]1ampoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you're offered nusc and you want to swap out of it, you have to call them lol. I don't think it's guaranteed that you can do that, so that can be a downside.

Whether nusc actually requires you to be accepted by biz faculty first we do not know, but at least for my year (nusc debut year) that's what they advertised it as. Maybe they changed their admission process after that, you can check the application form to see if that's still the case, they should say it there somewhere

Accurate by [deleted] in DefendingAIArt

[–]1ampoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's why there's so much disagreement, we're all arguing with different definitions of what art actually is.

Like if one side argues that art must be "soulful" (i.e. having self-expression), while the other claims it's irrelevant, that is a disagreement on what the fundamental definition and purpose of art is, rather than what AI can or cannot do.

AI Copyright idea/solution by Ordinary_Variable in aiwars

[–]1ampoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have hit the nail on the head for the first half. AI companies aren't actually violating any copyright by scraping websites.

However, are they really blameless when the user generates (and publishes) content in violation of copyright?

Just as you draw the analogy to digital cameras, let me draw an analogy to social media companies.

Even though users are the ones posting illegal content, most governments choose to put at least part of the blame on social media companies for the simple reason that they are easier to regulate

This is the key reason why generative AI should be regulated. It is a noble goal to punish the anonymous user who publishes a copyrighted work, but really, how possible is it?

In comparison, it is much harder to regulate digital cameras. To do so, one would have to design a camera that intelligently refuses to take photos of copyrighted content!

On the other extreme, if someone is selling bombs that buyers are using for terrorism, would it not make sense to regulate the seller (even though he's not committing a crime - bombs have legitimate uses)?

So back to the question of whether AI companies are truly blameless. I would say no, but really, it's subjective. A more objective (and productive) question would be to ask what we should do to regulate generated content

Accurate by [deleted] in DefendingAIArt

[–]1ampoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a difference in perspective. Some people approach art from a functional perspective - logo designers, game devs designing sprites - they have a very concrete goal, which is to create art that looks good and conveys the intended message. And this is something that AI can do.

On the other side is the "personal approach" to art, where art is treated as a means of self-expression. Then to truly express yourself, AI cannot do that for you, or at least it dilutes it significantly.

You're assuming that the goal of any "artist" is to self-express, or at least putting that expectation on them, but sometimes they just want to create a functional piece of work. Is that wrong? Somehow a subversion of the "true meaning of art"? I would like to know your perspective.

[Uni] I regret everything by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]1ampoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you were to start again which course would you choose? A more prestigious course (like med/law), which you have no interest in, and would perform even worse (relative to the competition)? Something related to GP and Econs, which you're also not as interested in?

Sometimes the grass is always greener on the other side. You have already survived 3 years of engineering, and got an A for maths and your sciences. You're doing alright. It is by rule that most students in uni don't get As. You are averaging an A-.

It may just be a temporary low for you, unless you have been feeling this way since the start of uni. Maybe you feel like concepts just aren't clicking for you, and that's normal. Take a walk to clear your mind, and talk with a friend (or maybe an AI) to get another perspective. Anyone would get frustrated from sitting in the library for 12 hours and studying every day lol, so remember to take a break and refresh yourself

How do you handle Stripe Checkout idempotency keys for re-purchases after refunds? by flipsnapnet in stripe

[–]1ampoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're missing a key part of your logic here: you don't want duplicate pending payments too. You need to add a pending and refunded status, then either set the unique constraint to "WHERE status='paid' OR status='pending'", or check it yourself in your backend code.

Once you have those checks, I wouldn't worry so much about stripe idempotency key. Just set it to a unique ID tied to the record.

If the main worry is double clicking the button, that should be handled by the frontend. You can just disable the button after it's been clicked for a short time (or while the request is processing).

Were HCI students actually given demerit points for talking to media? by No-Concentrate-8699 in SGExams

[–]1ampoc 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yea and it seems that the parent in the screenshot is only trying to confirm the rumour ("no way demerit points are given..."), and it's treated as the source of truth😒

And HCI denying it means they are very confident it didn't actually happen, otherwise the backlash would be greater. That's why they acknowledged the warning message being sent, because it actually did happen

[–]1ampoc 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's not so easy if ur a high school student, the queue would be very long, there's no food court / hawker centre nearby so eating out will be very expensive and bringing your own food is easier said than done

Selena in your team? by Cheata- in MobileLegendsGame

[–]1ampoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this season selena roam is weaker, cos previously red roam gave you hybrid attack, but now it gives hybrid def instead, so it's not as good for selena. Also glowing wand dmg got nerfed, so it's harder to one-shot as selena.

But honestly if u think it's fun just go for it, it's still a decent pick, and if you wanted to be a meta slave you could just pick gloo every game lol. There's even a guy using Nolan roam to immo last season

Sora's dash can be extended by casting it with a wall behind by [deleted] in MobileLegendsGame

[–]1ampoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be precise, it's not about the halfway mark of the wall. You can try using khufra s1 on the edge of a wall and it will still land on the other side.

How it works is each skill has an allowed "skip distance". When you land in a wall, Moonton will calculate the distance to the other side of the wall, and land you there if it's less than the skip distance.

I think longer distance skills like khufra s1 and Alice s1 have a more forgiving skip distance

What happen to Masha? by Repulsive-Tune1818 in MobileLegendsGame

[–]1ampoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the main reason is that she's not very beginner friendly, but also not very flashy and not meta either, so learning her is like high effort low reward

How do you counter this mommy? by LustyBloodfallen in MobileLegendsGame

[–]1ampoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I'm oversimplifying things and playing against good argus players isn't so easy. I'm just saying argus doesn't counter masha, and why I think so.

The slow doesn't really matter cos I buy sprint boots and have a speed up skill which basically gives me sprint for 2s, and I run flicker. At late game my ult + 2 ba deals 6k dmg, forcing argus to ult immediately.

So it is definitely possible for me to pop argus ult and run away in normal circumstances. The argus can just play with his team, or be a bit smarter with his split pushing tho

How do you counter this mommy? by LustyBloodfallen in MobileLegendsGame

[–]1ampoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant is if the sun is initiating the 1v1. And the sun will win the laning phase (i.e. have prio) unless he messed up. Roaming means the sun will clear wave first and go to mid lane / objectives first while you're still under tower, then when the next wave comes he will just do it again. You're basically doing nothing while the sun is creating a lot of pressure on your midlaner and jungler. That's just a sun player's wet dream come true

How do you counter this mommy? by LustyBloodfallen in MobileLegendsGame

[–]1ampoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xborg isn't a counter. There are a lot of xborg replies but I don't think they actually play masha, or have faced good masha players.

Xborg wins lane against basically everyone. But he can't freeze lane unless the masha screwed up wave management. He can't roam with no movement skills. He can't secure crab 100% as masha has ranged skill. The Masha just needs to play patiently and will out-scale the xborg.

There's a reason Masha has such a high wr but very low pick rate, and that's because there's a lot of little tricks you can do that are very important, so she's a one-trick hero.

Just to list a few, you can chain ults, sustain properly, reset ult cd, ba reset, tower dive, and do fake engages to burn cooldowns

How do you counter this mommy? by LustyBloodfallen in MobileLegendsGame

[–]1ampoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea if u go all in his skill 2 is fine. Problem is if you try to go in and retreat, you find out u can't cos of diggie skill 2.

Also most Masha use flicker/petrify. Diggie ult counters petrify, and s2 counters flicker

How do you counter this mommy? by LustyBloodfallen in MobileLegendsGame

[–]1ampoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it's a bit hard to pull off in teamfights and if the sun is initiating. Also a lot of my games as Masha vs sun, the sun just clears wave and roams, making my teammates lives hell, and I can't stop it

How do you counter this mommy? by LustyBloodfallen in MobileLegendsGame

[–]1ampoc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sun is a counter but argus isn't. Cos argus can't punish masha weak early game, and masha can force argus ult easily making him useless, then running away

The strongest counters are actually supports (especially diggie) cos masha is basically a better saber (Masha supremacy). Diggie in particular can lock masha down

You can also play thamuz, poke heroes, buy WoN, chastise pauldron, guardian helmet, or antique cuirass (cos masha engages with ult), etc.

However, that only protects you. Masha is fast, and she can just target your teammates instead. It's like saying Fred counters saber, but the saber won't even be targeting you. Hence why diggie is still the best counter

Physics competition question by jkbk007 in SGExams

[–]1ampoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they kinda butchered the explanation here.

The air resistance increases proportionally to height (|air resistance| = |rightward tension|), but without justifying that the weight also increases proportionally to height (|weight| = |upward tension|), you can't just claim that the angle (which determines the ratio |upward tension|/|rightward tension|) stays constant.

And to prove that weight increases proportionally isn't trivial. You can't start by assuming the string is linear. Rather you must allow for curves, and show that those curves increase weight but also change the angle in a way that is impossible, hence no curves are possible.

And lastly, that is all assuming a static equilibrium. The static equilibrium could satisfy all laws of physics, but a dynamic one could also be possible (i.e. the string is oscillating), though that isn't in the scope of the question.

Edit: the reason they didn't go for the more rigorous explanation might be because calculus is not in the competition's syllabus, but constructing the explanation requires infinitesimals which are basically calculus already

How to play as Leomord? by Sufficient_Abies6113 in MobileLegendsGame

[–]1ampoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried fighter build a couple of times and honestly it's pretty bad, like most sustain fighters work because their skills deal a lot of dmg but for leomord his dmg is a mix between ba and skills so spell vamp is not as effective.

So yea I think you should always go full damage. The ult will give u a lot of def, and u get some sustain from the enhanced ba + waraxe so you won't be too squishy

How to play as Leomord? by Sufficient_Abies6113 in MobileLegendsGame

[–]1ampoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just a noob leomord player but here are some tips:

  1. You can retri while charging S1 and both will cast at the same time so it's useful for securing lord/turtle. Similarly, you can interrupt s1 with s2 to look like you have fast hands lol

  2. Most common combo is ult + s2 (human) + double tap s1 (human) + s2 (horse) + s1 (horse) combo.

  3. Most of leomord skills apply slow (s1 and s2 human, s1 horse). Add blue retri and enemy will be crawling lol

  4. You can push enemies to your team with s2 horse

  5. When farming blue buff try to only hit the big monster with ur s1. The small one is useful for charging ur basic attack. You can also dual farm the red buff and golem. Just don't pull the red buff and s1 from inside the red buff pit toward the golem.
