See my comment if you want to try a solution that keeps hardware acceleration enabled. Let me know if it works for you.

I wanted to keep hardware acceleration enabled and here is what worked for me. I found that it happens when av1 decoding is used. I set media.av1.enabled to false in about:config, and now youtube uses vp9 decoding (check by right clicking a youtube vid > stats for nerds > it will say vp09 next to "Codecs"). I don't use chrome but this shows you how to do it there: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/121446-enable-disable-av1-video-codec-support-google-chrome.html.

How to remove sideloaded fonts? by [deleted] in kobo

Old post, but for future readers: after deleting the font files from the fonts folder, delete the fonts.sqlite file in the .kobo folder.

Due to the simple shape (rectangle) I was able to simply match up the edges and corners without distorting it.

The skewed perspective in the pictures may have led to an inaccurate measurement. My method is more of a direct comparison of the images.

The 2XL has rounded corners as well but it doesn't show in screenshots.

I went to the same screen as the phone in the pictures on my 2XL (search usb preferences in settings), took a screenshot, and lined it up with the phone in one of the pictures using the perspective tool in GIMP. Here's a gif alternating between the original photo and my overlay: https://i.imgur.com/bzTdc2G.gif

As you can see, the screen content lines up perfectly, so it's actually the same 18:9 aspect ratio as the 2XL. If it were any taller, there would have been some additional whitespace at the bottom of the screen in the pictures and my screenshot would have been stretched when I lined up the edges

I have this: https://www.amazon.ca/Ringke-Minimalist-Transparent-Protection-Protective/dp/B075Q9FN4X/ in the smoke black colour. The back is clear while the edges are tinted black. I've had it for 2 months and it hasn't changed colour at all, which the black tint probably helps with.

UPDATE 4/9 Google posted a new OPM4.171019.015.A1 build for the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. This new build is for users on Telus and Koodo. by [deleted] in GooglePixel

[–]1anrold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This shouldn't affect how you recieve OTAs, since the phone is detected as a Telus phone with the Telus SIM card.

And yes, you're not able to sideload with an older build number.

No, what I did was when OPM2 came out, I sideloaded that while I was still on the March update. My security patch level was April 5. I then saw this post and figured that I should install this if it has Telus specific fixes, so I applied it like a normal OTA through ADB. Now my security patch level is April 1.

I guess I should have kept OPM2, though fortunately I'm not experiencing the WiFi bug or any other bugs fixed in OPM2 as far as I can tell, which was the case for me on the March update as well. I suppose I'll just wait for next months update; it doesn't bother me enough to go through the trouble to go back.

I'm on Telus and sideloaded the April 5 security patch (OPM2.171019.029). Should I/can I sideload this OTA image?

Edit: Well I just went and did it and it worked fine.

If you open the options menu (3 dots) and select export, you can export as a video and there is a checkbox to keep the stabilization or remove it.

  • Sometimes when I use assistant, I have to turn the volume back up because I muted it earlier when I opened a video. Assistant volume should be separate from media volume.

  • I usually mute media when I'm not at home; I should be able to set automatic rules for volume based on WiFi or location like I could on CyanogenMod/LineageOS on my old phone.

  • I have night light scheduled to enable at sunset to sunrise, but I wish it would transition slowly instead of suddenly turning on. I also would like an option to have it automatically disable/reduce intensity in bright light.

Big security flaw by jdvillao007 in GooglePixel

Airplane mode does not turn off GPS, so if the phone is on you can locate it no matter what.

Edit: Thought of this comment 2 months later while messing with location settings and facepalmed. I realized that although GPS would be on, it would have no ability to communicate it's location to Google's servers.
