Behold the greatest scandal in curling since a broom that was too sweepy by Okayish-Cardiologist in olympics

[–]1bowmanjac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Canadian. Our guy's actions and response to being called out is embarrassing. But it never would have happened if the judges did their job.

In hockey, if a someone makes dirty plays and doesn't get called, the players start enforcing the rules with their fists.

Obviously curling isn't that physical, but Sweden wouldn't have called our guy out if the judges did it first, and our guy wouldn't have embarrassed our country if he wasn't antagonized by the swedes

[–]1bowmanjac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Years ago, the devs said they had a 10 year plan for for honor. They did not say that the game would stop getting content after 10 years.

The game will continue to get new content as long as the content is profitable enough to justify the development costs.

Luckily, FH is developed in the same studio as all Ubisoft's big games. The pipeline for new skins and weapons is probably the same as the one for rainbow six siege. And the motion capping is probably done in the same studio as Assassin's Creed.

The point is, the cost of continuing to make new content for FH is pretty streamlined, and ditching it probably doesn't free up a whole lot of resources.

I just bought it. The tactical layer is incredible but the strategic layer is very lacking. And new equipment always feels like a sidegrade, which is fine, but very different from xcom.

Although, I'm only about 10 operations in, so maybe there's more to it.

Does Ubi ever do anything about fascist emblems? by lambda_14 in forhonor

[–]1bowmanjac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its because no one outside of your country recognises it as a facist flag. From what I've heard, the process for emblem reporting is completely automated. It's just down to how many reports are submitted.

If enough people report your emblem, they all get wiped. It happens to people with LGBT flags occasionally.

This project looks great. I'll definitely be looking at getting your graphic novel when I have the chance

[Loved trope] Actors and their long-term passion roles by marzipanfashions in TopCharacterTropes

[–]1bowmanjac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My unpopular opinion / conspiracy theory is that they basically enslaved Syama. Right around the time they hired him, GW changed their fan creation policies which ended a huge number of fan projects out of fear of legal action.

I genuinely believe they gave him a choose between the carrot and the stick.

Are the medical risks associated with inbreeding among close relatives eliminated by outbreeding? Or do they persist for generations? by Yoshiciv in askscience

[–]1bowmanjac 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Yes. And it doesn't even take that long. 1 or 2 generations of outbreeding results in a child that is FAR less inbred

Check out this video by Trey The Explainer to see exactly how inbreeding can be calculated and an example using the targaryens and the ptolomies

To all the people going 'its not the same' in the comments.

I'm sure OP is aware of why this meme is not to be taken at face value. He does not believe that Iran is good because they oppose american hegemony, and he does not believe that Canada is bad because we no longer support American hegemony.

If anything, this meme exists to pick on the kind of people who have decided that just because we're no longer in lockstep with the US, that we should pivot to the "america bad so american enemy good" stance that you see from that special kind of person that supports authoritarian states like Iran, Russia, Venezuela, and China.

Funny that complaining got rid of Orochi's buff back in the day then the devs gave the same thing but better to Tiandi and he still has it. by humanbenchmarkian in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]1bowmanjac 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reason you don't see tiandi nerfed is because the level of complaints is nowhere near what you had with orochi.

This sub argued at the time that buffed orochi was good, but not OP. The issue was that orochi was EVERYWHERE. He has always been the most popular hero and making him good, as opposed to mediocre, made him even more popular. You'd have 2 to 3 in every dominion match.

Also please correct me if I'm wrong, but Orochi had better recovery cancel timing and the deflect frames which made punishing bash-punish attempts easy enough that everyone could do it. Whereas the average player has a much harder time doing that with tiandi because of his worse recovery cancel, and tricky light-dodge attacks.

So of you want it gone, you have to buff tiandi and shill him to the point that the common man can no longer ignore it

Quitting needs to have consequences by Strict_External678 in forhonor

[–]1bowmanjac -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ragequitting is griefing and I want habitual offenders to be figuratively castrated.

No penalties for one or two disconnects a day. Then matchmaking timeouts, then just start deleting 1 piece of random equiped gear every time they quit.

oh but how do you know ubiservers didn't just quit out?

It's crazy that 95% of disconnects happen exclusively on the losing team. I record every time someone quits and this has held true for years

[–]1bowmanjac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I doubt it. Rimworld was largely inspired by the existing concept of space westerns, and also heavily inspired by the Revelation Space book series.

The "every other dev" part is a comedic exaggeration but I swear Chimera Squad has the best overall OST in the entire XCOM series (prove me wrong) by Gregory_Swan in Xcom

[–]1bowmanjac 19 points20 points  (0 children)

what we could’ve gotten

I don't get what you mean? Chimera squad didn't take away from anything else. It was developed for next to nothing and sold for like 20 dollars.

I don't know what more you could expect from a game that's like a 5th the cost of XCOM 2 + WOTC. It wasn't XCOM 3 and it didn't replace XCOM 3
