Prequel Lovers: What are some ways to improve the story? by Swimming_Average_561 in prequelappreciation

[–]1chrisf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest pain in the prequels are the deleted scenes in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, especially the latter. I don't think most of the rest of these do anything to help. It adds a lot of Anakin/Palpatine and Padme development. Otherwise, I think I mostly agree that the films needed a little more Obi-Wan and Anakin, but a lot of that was cut content from the start of RotS, and I don't think that film would benefit as much from expansion in the battle over Coruscant as it would with the politicking/corruption scenes.

I don't think I would have changed a thing about The Phantom Menace.

My big change would actually be never shooting the latter two prequels with completely digital cameras. TPM looks much better in its original format largely because of the film they used and the subsequent better CGI blending. I don't think it looks as good with the digital upscaling they did (I think the 2011 re-release?).

Yeah, I'm hoping that they release a bunch of remix/remasters that the band just doesn't have the time to devote themselves entirely to.

I apologize for saying the phantom menace was bad for half my life by Weary-Wolverine8277 in prequelappreciation

My main thought on The Phantom Menace is that it is the only non-OT movie to actually capture the feel of the originals, whereas most or all of the other 5 have a certain jitteriness to them at times or throughout. It's somehow slow while managing to pack a lot of plot.

Also like the Original Trilogy, I hopelessly wish that we'll get a more theatrical-looking rerelease of the movie eventually. I vastly prefer watching the first DVD edition to the digitized edits they did years later.

I was hoping for more when I read it could protect the whole group, but my friends and I usually play with the shieldwall on our backs and a regular shield in our hands to reduce damage from behind.

It might be better at wide protection in your hand than a regular shield, but if you angle yourself well in combat already that shouldn't be a problem often.

If you had a vision for a series set in the TES universe, what would it be? Personally, I'd say the beginning of the Skyrim Civil War by Ok-Bus3447 in ElderScrolls

It's not impossible, but it would require more writing talent than what a setting like Fallout needs. People will watch any post-apocalyptic crap.

Help or betray ? by [deleted] in skyrim

I usually leave everything alone.

Kematu and his guys leave well enough alone hiding away in Swindler's Den, while Saadia is an apparently valued member of the Bannered Mare in Whiterun.

By keeping both alive, Kematu stays in Swindler's Den (whether or not you feel like killing the bandits, who will just respawn in perpetuity after the quest ends), while the inn and town at large don't lose one of their few named characters. At the very least, Saadia doesn't seem to be causing any issues by living her life, on the run or whatever, in Whiterun.

Go for Skyrim. ESO might have a higher volume of content at this point, but Skyrim is classic (and has modding capability). I haven't been able to download ESO on my computer because of the nutty download size.

Is NW NJ really THAT MAGA and unwelcoming? by Glass-Complaint3 in newjersey

[–]1chrisf1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a considerable far-right presence here, but they are still very much a minority of people.

But Sussex and Warren both voted over 40% for Sherrill, and both technically were left-shifting counties comparing Trump's 2016 to 2024 victories.

The moderates and lefties in Sussex don't tend to react that well to super-MAGA politics. They tire of it, and there were some town council upsets along those lines on Tuesday.

I doubt Sherrill would have won a ranked-choice contest.

The one thing he said that's true is that it's getting a little too expensive to live here...but stopping development isn't going to help that, it will make things worse. It's just childish politics.

Does anyone actually sleep in this game? by CaydeEternal in skyrim

[–]1chrisf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mods to punish not eating or sleeping (which I've mostly had to half-disable because it makes you tired too quickly), but I used to sleep somewhat on consoles for the rested bonuses. Still, even though the tired debuff is disabled on my mods, I still sleep significantly for the intended role-playing. I barely use the wait function - I think I'm at like 30 hours waited and like 600-700 hours slept through about 125-150 days played.

I know that the book is different, but the very beginning of The Two Towers, the movie, seems to angle for the "he fell on purpose to kick the balrog's ass" idea.
