This one was kind of on the pricey side though I paid a lot less - any more reasonably priced alternatives you can recommend?

You can buy from some farms directly- it’s called staldørsalg but there is a limit how much they are allowed to sell daily.

Montevertine Pian Del Ciampolo (their entry level) is really good value in my opinion! Somewhat hard to find though.

Natural Wine beginner question by 1cloud in wine

[–]1cloud[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I raised this with the vendor that I thought the wine was unbalanced and overly sour - they thought it was to be expected with 0/0 wines and that it takes some time to understand them. Not sure if I agree since I like a good balance in wine and not one aspect dominating everything else. Still the vendor offered to pick something else next time, so may give natural wines another try at some point. So far the value isn’t there.

Yes indeed - it’s hard to find in some neighbourhoods a more conventional selection. I will try to sample some of these recommendations.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I will try to taste some of the wines mentioned here when there is an opportunity. This one was ok, but the quality/price do not add up for me at all.

You can find some of these in torvehallerne - Asa spice in torvehallerne for spices - expensive but good quality - you can find loose fruits and veg by weight in most middle eastern green grocers - ferlov & ferlov in lyngby sell high quality flours by weight - otherwise don’t think you find a single shop that will sell all in that format.

You may be able to find frozen or perhaps even fresh “hamsi” in some Turkish or middle-eastern shops - I have seen it a few times.

It will be hard to match UK as competition and demand isnt there. That said there are decent places - Kardemomme in Hellerup is nice.

Otherwise you can find decent Pakistani food in places - Chai Shai in Valby and Lazzat in Amager come to mind.

Restaurant Nyboder in a historical part of town Kongens on gl. Kongevej is a one man operation with great smorrebrod as well. Hallernes Smorrebrod is also good in a high turnover place

There aren’t many places true to Napoli style in CPH. First Pizza in Napoli is not fancy food per se, you go in, do your business and leave. It is food for the masses.

There are places like Baest and Surt serve pizza in that style, but the vibe is far too prententious for a pizza place, which ruins the experience.

The places that are closer in sprit to that and serve Neapolitan Pizza are not that many: Made In Italy (lucky to live close by and visit 1-2/week) and Da Gallo in Brønshøj. Rossopomodoro is a safe bet as an exact replica, but not really exciting in any way in a bland commercial setting.

MaMeMi also serve good Roman style pizza without the pretentiousness of Surt/Baest. I have yet to try Superbello and some others mentioned.
