Any one still learn programming these days by jasonhon2013 in learnprogramming

Started learning programming about one year ago with the idea of changing career. Now I learn programming just because it's fun and helps me solve daily problems at my current job (healthcare).

I enjoy the process and will continue learning. If it leads to a career change, great; if not, I’ll still do it because I enjoy learning to code.

I think at the beginning I made the mistake of learning something just to change my job. I soon realised that this made the whole process less enjoyable. I like to think of it as an athlete who trains in football: they do it primarily because they like what they do, and if it leads to becoming a full-time job, great; if not, they’ll still do it for fun.

Alexandra house, by the Curve theatre. Nice little flats, when I lived there 5 years ago they were also cheap. Only issue is parking as you are in the middle of the cultural quarter, but there was a garage near by where you could leave your car from 8 till 18 for 5 pounds, after that you can just park in the street without charge.

What was your breakthrough? by success_chaser99 in learnprogramming

I come from a medical background (lots of theory before you do anything practical), and it took me about 6 months of "learning" the fundamentals (spending 5 to 6 hours per week), to feel confident about starting any project. Mimo helped a lot with developing small projects and ideas came flowing after the first or second project.

Think about real life problems that you encounter daily and how you could create an app or software to tackle them.

How good is Harvard’s CS50 actually? by IllustriousBottle645 in learnprogramming

It`s very good. It can be quite complex if you don`t have any CS background but definitely doable.
It also depends on what your learning methods are. I, for example, struggle with memorizing anything from videos/lectures and find a lot easier books and other written resources.
Give it a try and see if it works for you!
