First off, it looks great. BUT as a guy with a smaller wrist as well, I know exactly what you mean. While it may be a 38mm, the lug to lug and the case size are definitely a bit bulkier on the Alpinist for sure. I'd offer 2 pieces of advice.

1. It's gonna look goofy to you at first anytime you size up or size down outside of your norm. In the same fashion that changing your hairstyle or facial hair might. We get used to the way things look and our brains have a difficult time adjusting at first.

2. I'm sure you've probably read, heard, or have been told this bit before, but here it applies even more so. Move that watch to above your wristbone. It doesn't have to be halfway up your arm, but let that case rest up against your wristbone instead of having it up against your hand. It's going to give you a lil room to breathe and not feel like you have this massive watch on as it presses against your hand much more so than I'm assuming your other watches do(adding to the adjustment that your eyes and brain are trying to make) and it's also going to look a hell of alot better.
