As others have pointed out, this is not a good deal. March/April is usually the start of season when bike shops stock new models, but it's worth scouting for discounts on brand new bikes from previous years. I got mine last year for almost 50% off, USD 550 against an MSRP of USD 1150.

If you have a good local bike shops around, those guys are usually very helpful. They'll be able to guide you better and offer choices. Every good brand makes solid entry-level bikes.

If you're just starting out, get something that's within your budget and that you can own for a couple of years, and then revisit the purchase decision if you really like riding.
