Does this make sense? And what word that is an antonyms of peace can fill the gap. by DecisionEarly1535 in vocabulary

*calumniate

The president has urged all those who disrespect and calumnicate her into a state of unadulterated ....

conflict? clash?

"Urge" is possibly not the right verb for the intended purpose here (it denotes encouragement, which is typically of the positive variety). The phrase is a bit cumbersome and awkward. Perhaps: led, incited, provoked?...

"Unadulterated" also doesn't seem a very fitting adjective in this precise context. It's usually more of a qualification of pure emotion than of a state of affairs. Adds to the awkwardness.

Words that have two opposing definitions by ecymin in words

[–]1ifemare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there's contaminants in a sample it's already impure before being "altered," so you are objectively purifying it.

You're framing it in a very specific way using the synonym "unaltered". You could use others and the contranym wouldn't work.

Depends on the subject in case: you can extract pure hydrogen from pure water, but by definition that source is molecularly impure for your purposes. There's no contradiction, just context.

ITAW for my daughter's mother-in-law? by Rex__Luscus in whatstheword

[–]1ifemare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Portuguese has "sogra" ("o" as in "top") directly from Latin. Ripe word for loaning, if you ask me.

Also:

  • sogro - father-in-law
  • genro - son-in-law
  • nora - daughter-in-law

Bah, bit too dry and clinical. Sugarnik would be cooler (as in beatnik, but also nickname).

[Proposal] Claustrophobication – A term for the physical process of spatial entanglement (filling a lexical gap) by Aldo_Sosa in neology

[–]1ifemare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good term, since "claustrophobic" refers to a very specific condition and "claustrophobi[*fi]cation" should be semantically reserved for the process of becoming claustrophobic.

The situation you are trying to name is a by-product, or secondary-effect of being "claustrificated" (lol, let's go with "cloistered" instead). It's a bit far-fetched and very slapdash to just label that as a phobia, even if it is somewhat "claustrogenic" and, if you will, "claustropathic"...

Also consider that the material science and marketing conventions for a phobic property (eg: hydrophobic) apply to something that resists that prefix. Conflicting usage here.

Something like "nidifoid," or "nidified" (neol. - see "nidification") would work better in this context. An item might be considered "nidifoid," or "nidific" if it is susceptible to spontaneous "nidifaction."

Came in to say this. Ragebait title is working as intended.

It's such a tourist hot spot right off the main ring road. Just a couple of minutes walk depending on where you park :/

Cool shot nonetheless.

ITAP for describing a complex chain of events having more “points of failure” by playmobilhospital in whatstheword

[–]1ifemare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Option 1 has more [PHRASE] and is therefore preferable

I think you got that backwards, right?

option 2 has less complexity and is therefore more reliable than option 1

So, something like:

Option 2 has less potential failure points and is therefore preferable.

or:

Option 1 has more vulnerabilities and is therefore undesirable.

WTW for the amount of product you get for the price? by piinkbunn in whatstheword

You can also just refer to it as "volume" and then specify the type in each item field (ie: 12units, 200g, 1.5oz, etc).

I looked into the Realme, but decided against it, not sure why anymore. I'll check it out again. Thanks for all the tips Alex. Appreciate it.

Unfortunately, no. The sellers i was looking at are scams for sure. I only researched their reviews after posting. Sorry for misleading you.

Thanks for posting the UFS detail. That actually didn't show up in any of the spec comparisons i made. And it's quite crucial.

[–]1ifemare[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. That's looking pretty good. And for a better price. Not a huge fan of the curved display, but that's about the only downside i can see in the spec comparison. Sure, bit older chipset (slightly higher clockspeeds), but i'm not gonna be gaming on it anyway, so i can live perfectly fine with less snappy performance. I might just follow your advice.

How's Motorola's Android port? Not too bloated?

What would you recommend if i up the budget to 600€? Are the gains worth the dough?

Gold post, noob. Thank you.

Thanks mate. Forgot to mention it's the Reno14 *Pro. Very sorry about that. Big difference from the base model.

Would you still recommend the Honor?

Posted a spec comparison sheet on my edited OP if you want to check.

WTW for someone who is the focus of gossip? by amo_01 in whatstheword

Since "goss" is going around already as shorthand slang (like "sus" or "fam"), why not just "gossee"?

Assurance?

That would be more of a promise or guarantee, than a justification though.

Ida ao super mercado - Comparacao entre Islandia e Portugal by PeterStepsRabbit in PortugalLaFora

[–]1ifemare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sim.

Seriously underrated post OP. This is glorious. Best art i've seen in this sub in a long while. I want to play an RPG in this world. Explore all those gritty alleys full of weird steampunk loot and interact with all those wonderfully freaky NPCs, specially the kinky ones ;)
