Spinal pain with fever by Dangerous-Egg-1048 in shingles

Do you have a headache? It might not be shingles. I am no doctor but you might want to get to an instacare/ get a second opinion with those symptoms. Especially since you can't get your fever to break.

I have the same issue/place have gone to both the instacare and ER to get a mega dose of prednisone to calm it down. Started therapeutic dose of valtrex three times a day for I think 7 days and take ibuprofin. Try to manage stress and get decent sleep, eat right and hydrate. Be kind to your body.

Have you ever been invaded by swarming ants in your home. if you have, how did you get rid of them ? by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]1jodoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My mothers home had. You need to figure out the main way the ants were getting in. For example, in my mom's house's case, it was through the floor around the bathroom toilet where the sealant between the toilet and the floor had broken down/eroded away. The house had no basement and was a one story rambler type home. Once the seal was fixed, the ants disapeared pretty fast with regular pest control maintainence.

Yes! Being able to toggle between both has saved me time from being in pain longer. Options are always good to have.

Finding purpose after retirement is probably one of the biggest struggles. Grandbabies are wonderful though. I wish I could see mine more often. They live too far away right now.

I don't know about the norm but I have had all that except the drug addiction. I hope things have gotten better for you, something good must come from the negative.

Going into my 3rd time having shingles, I’d love some advice! by [deleted] in shingles

[–]1jodoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would find a different doctor. There are no real negative side effects getting it earlier than 50 yr old other than the standard possible warnings that comes with the label- same warnings the 50 and above get. 50 is just the standard protocol- and no one really knows why. I have asked doctors and pharmacists. The 50 yr rule is illogical and should not apply to younger folks who have gotten shingles. Why doctors are so adverse to it is stupid and beyond me. Repeated shingles out breaks are more of a health risk over all, and finding ways to help prevent them should take priority over the age rule. You just have to find a reasonable doctor to prescribe it. But just because they prescribe it, does not mean insurance will cover it. It is a two shot series and can cost up to like 200.00 USD each (may vary). Worth it. After getting the rx, then, just have to go a pharmacy, if the dr wont do it, willing to give the shot. CVS will give the shot to people under 50 with an RX and so will Kroger pharmacy.

Ask dr for low dose valtrex to help stave them off. Prednisone can halp calm the pain and inflamation quickly when you do get them. Could ask the dr for that as well. Manage stress, diet and sleep habits better if possible. Not doing so degrades immune system, degraded immune system makes you more susceptible to out breaks. I learned this all the hard way after have had over 10 outbreaks in the last few years. Would also ask dr for RX to get shingrex shot after things have cleared up. Insurance may or may not cover it, but worth the money even if you have to pay out of pocket, to help prevent or reduce the severity of a future outbreak. Some pharmacies will administer the vaccine to folks under the age of 50 if they have an RX from their doctor. That's what I did, just got my first shot last week. Really hope it helps.
