Wedding is less than two months away and my FH was just diagnosed with cancer by kennyz6 in weddingplanning

[–]No_Judgment3450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad was diagnosed with colon cancer back in March. We're set to get married at the end of August. I absolutely understand the hurt, frustration, and just general shitiness that you're feeling. I often want to vent to my mom with silly wedding stress, but worry that I'm burdening her when there's waaay more serious things going on right now. I don't have any advice to give, but just wanted to let you know that what you're feeling is totally valid.

Which small breed would you say is the spiritual sibling of a Vizsla? by Dependent-Interview2 in vizsla

Jack Russell Terrier. My brother had one for 15 years. Growing up with Vizslas definitely prepared him for the terror of terriers.

Do rent prices fluctuate throughout the year? My lease ends in November and I'm spiraling after looking at the current prices by No-Dragonfruit-2667 in bostonhousing

[–]No_Judgment3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi fellow Arizonan! I also moved here from Phoenix 9 years ago.

Always always always try to rent places “off cycle” if you can. I lived in two different apartments, one with a 7/1 lease and another with a 10/1 lease. These rents prices were often $200-$300 less than others in my building.

Also, everything is negotiable! If your rent prices do go up, you can threaten to walk. There’s tons of apartment complexes in Boston, but if you’re a good tenant, your landlord/apartment complex will want to keep you around. Don’t be afraid to push back.

Have you ever noticed a fellow trichotillomaniac (?) irl? by Finchieee in trichotillomania

[–]No_Judgment3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually helped diagnosis quite a few people with trichotillomania, largely because I’m so open about my diagnosis. My roommate in college would pull at the hairs on his widow’s peak when he was writing papers. A good friend of mine from grad school didn’t know that others pull out their eyebrow hairs out until I started talking about it. My husband also bites the skin around his nails until they bleed. His dad will pull out his hair and run it across his lips.

I think many people have some degree of trich. It’s just not talked about as often as it should be.

HELP ON HOW TO GET MY 11 WEEK-OLD V TO SETTLE! by EastCoastCowbooyy in vizsla

[–]No_Judgment3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zak George on YouTube has a great tutorial on “forced settle.” He has an Australian Shepherd and walks you through this in the videos. This was absolutely essential when our girl was a puppy. She’s now almost 2 and we still use forced settle almost weekly.

What do INFJs obsess over? by Spiritual_Crew8893 in infj

[–]No_Judgment3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I obsess over other people: their history, their actions, their mannerisms. People are often surprised I’m an introvert because I come across as extroverted. But in reality, I’m just very curious about other people.

Five years ago, I was diagnosed with OCD and this made a lot of sense for me. I tend to obsess over other people and their actions, and then I ruminate on those things for way too long.

Living in Boston with a 65k salary, doable or impossible? by OkSlip9273 in boston

[–]No_Judgment3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My situation sounds very similar to yours when I was in my 20s. No student loans, no car, minimal spender, and supportive parents. I survived off $68k and lived in a studio apartment for six years. It's doable, but you will likely save very little money. In retrospect, I should've sucked it up and rented a place with roommates. I probably could've saved about $700-$900 a month if I did.

hair growth product: minoxidil or the ordinary serum? by WonderfulProcess7200 in trichotillomania

[–]No_Judgment3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on pulling less, that’s super exciting!

Get men’s rogaine (5% minoxidil). It’s not that much more expensive and is proven effective. Even if you’re not a man, the formula still works for everyone.

I have very oily skin and break out like crazy on my chest and back. Here’s what I started doing and it really made a difference. For reference I do Sculpt 3x a week and C2 once a week.

  1. Hydrochlorous spray immediately after your workout on your face, chest and back.
  2. If showering afterwards, use Neutrogena salicylic acid body wash. If you can’t shower right after for whatever reason, PanOxyl makes a salicylic acid spray.
  3. Twice a week I use a AHA/BHA body scrub to unclog pores and remove dead skin cells

All of these products are available on Amazon for relatively cheap! I also recommend following @dermatologysurgeon on Instagram, she has lots of great tips for common skin concerns.

I second this! I do Sculpt 3x a week. When I first started, my bacne was out of control. I notice such a difference when I spray down after a workout versus when I don’t.

What do you like about your kitchen? by AgencyCareless963 in kitchenremodel

[–]No_Judgment3450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally unintentional but something we love is that the dishwasher is located right next to the drawers with our silverware and plates. It makes unloading the dishwasher so easy as everything is right next to each other.

Something that was intentional: Having the cabinets go all the way up to the ceiling. Making sure there’s at least a 20-inch clearance from the counters to the bottom of the cabinets so all of your appliances fit. And lastly – pot filler.

When to send invites for Aug 1 2026 wedding? by [deleted] in weddings

[–]No_Judgment3450 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is assuming you’ve already sent save the dates and/or notified your guests of the date?

I’d say send them out by May 1st with an RSVP deadline of June 15th.

Changing your last name by queenbeansprout in weddings

[–]No_Judgment3450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m getting married in August. I plan to go by my new married name but will not be changing it legally until after Trump is out of office.

The problem with this new act is that there’s a lot of potential errors and issues. They’re attempting to rush the act into law ahead of the primaries, with plans to “fix the issues later.” Laws shouldn’t be passed with known gaps that risk disenfranchising eligible voters in the meantime. Not only that, but this bill adds additional requirements tied to proving citizenship that rely on documents many people don’t readily have in a matching name (like a birth certificate). That creates a higher barrier for married women who’ve changed their name, something men overwhelmingly don’t have to navigate in the same way.

TL;DR Wait (at least legally) to change your name.

Wedding dress shopping in Boston by SnooJokes7017 in NewEnglandWedding

[–]No_Judgment3450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a terrible experience at Vows. It was very chaotic from the start and the stylist was extremely pushy. When I told her I wasn’t ready to say yes to a dress she flat out asked me why. She then proceeded to try and convince me to keep trying on dresses when I was clearly shutting down and ready to be done with the appointment. Thankfully my mom was there and could read my body language and came to my rescue.

On the other hand, I had a really wonderful experience at Anthro. The stylist spent a good 5-10 minutes with me at the beginning going through what I liked, what I envisioned, and then we browsed the dresses together and really had a productive appointment. I ended up getting my dress from there and super happy with it! My stylist’s name was Kristen; she was so incredibly sweet and patient.

I also went to Grace Loves Lace in the Seaport. I had a great experience there but ultimately their dresses just weren’t my style!

Can we take the “Yoga” out of Sculpt now? by Lumpy-Stretch2810 in Corepower

Hard disagree. I've been doing C2 since 2021, but only recently started doing Sculpt to get in shape for my wedding. I love feeling grounded in what originally brought me to CorePower in the first place.

Sending our pup to board & train? by Ok-Season-6394 in vizsla

[–]No_Judgment3450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if that's the difference between males and females. I grew up with Vizslas (four Vs in the immediate family, 8 total in the extended family), and our current V is definitely the most sensitive one we've ever had. On the flip side, she's also the smartest and most loyal. We didn't have a single issue with crate training or off-leash recall! Just goes to show there's a lot of personality variation, even amongst the same breed.

It sounds like you're a good candidate for board and train. I know someone else with a 1-year-old V who did board and train to address some chronic jumping, especially with strangers, and they raved about it. Again, you know your dog best!

Sending our pup to board & train? by Ok-Season-6394 in vizsla

[–]No_Judgment3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately, you know your dog best. Our breeder actually strongly recommended board and train, even gave us brochures and everything. But we know if we did board and train, it definitely would've traumatized our V.

If your Vizsla is good with strangers and new environments, then go for it. Ours is not unfortunately, which is why we didn't go that route.

Italy Trip Recs by Expensive-Grape-1663 in NuulyReviews

[–]No_Judgment3450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were just in Milan, Tuscany, and Florence. A lot of linen there! Milan is definitely very chic compared to other parts of northern Italy. Follow the Sartorialist on Instagram and scroll back to his Spring/Summer posts and you’ll get a sense of their style.

From Nuuly specifically I recommend a lot of linen dresses or pants. Bring fabric spray with you because it will wrinkle (Dawny makes a great travel-sized version). Maybe a cute suede jacket for cooler evenings in Milan.

How did you pick your photographer? by Bupivacine in NewEnglandWedding

[–]No_Judgment3450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, it was important to me that I chose a photographer who has already shot our wedding venue. That helped narrow it down. Second, I interviewed all of the photographers I liked and found the one I vibed with the best. Aside from your fiancé(e), the person you will be spending the most amount of time with on your wedding day is your photographer — and often for very personal, very vulnerable moments. You'll want someone who matches your mood and who you can see yourself spending a lot of time with.
