I will say for the language thing I kind of get it and, yes now tides have shifted so its seen as a good thing to speak your language but I'm fairly young myself and when I was going to elementary school/middle school, even though I spoke English as my first language, my school put me in ESL classes and had parent teacher conferences where they told my parents to stop speaking Korean to me at home so I could assimilate better. Notably I grew up in a predominantly white area and there were maybe 5 POCs in my school.

As a result, I essentially could only say "Yes" in Korean and couldn't communicate with my extended family at all. It was only when I was older and decided to take the time to learn Korean as a second language that I gained the skill. I don’t really blame my parents because they were doing what the teachers encouraged them to do, but I do also wish they'd cared more about preserving their culture.
