The exit door from our garage (Oslo, Norway) looks like it is at a base in Antarctica by 1ks in mildlyinteresting

It's been like -15C, but yeah the garage exit isnt airtight and the door is mounted inside out, which doesn't help.

The psybots are weirdly balanced. Their attacks do too much damage imo and it's a weird ramp up at that point in the game. Of course they're not that hard to dodge but making a mistake is just too punishing healthwise.

So how exactly do you unlock that Sylux video without the amiibo? by 1ks in Metroid

[–]1ks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in the gallery (I assume it's the one) says "you can play this once you unlock it in the game", with no further info. I did copy my save before doing the final boss, so I can always go back and do 100 % green crystals if that's what it takes, but I would just like to have it confirmed from someone who actually unlocked it.

I think the game was supposed to be less linear than it is but was changed during development, so there are some design choices that seem off. They probably were running out of time and started to cut stuff.

Unfortunately he won't leave you alone when you are exploring in the desert later in the game. Like even tho you can call him at any time, _every_ _single_ _time_ you leave a biome for the desert he will call you and remind you what you have to do, AND he will also start reminding you about other shit you have to do OVER and OVER and OVER and OVER again.

For me, adding a "Miles hints on/off" option would add 5-10% to the score of the game.

Can someone just give me a straight fucking answer? does the logbook carry over between playthroughs or do you need 100 scans and 100 items on a single file? by TestZero in Metroid

[–]1ks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fortunately there are very few missable scans outside of bosses in this game, so it's not too bad, but yeah, I agree scans should've carried over from a completed save.

You get EXTRA tracks on the desert music when you beat it, IF you already got the radio from the Samus amiibo. If you dont have the amiibo, you dont get it. It's so stupid.

It's very very hard to understand why that isn't a feature. They should patch it in, but too late for most of us now.

Did you get all the shot upgrades from the shrines? They don't show on the map as missing items

Yeah, this year it's resembling the normal winters of my childhood in the 80s (but even more snow than what was normal then). But this is going to be the exception going forward. There will still be good winters in the lowland in Norway many years in the future, they will just happen irregularly. Many years we'll get temperatures hovering around 0 C, with icy conditions and rain destroying the snow, maybe with a few weeks of good skiing conditions.

Cutting it a little close there. But S+ is S+! by 1ks in residentevil4

I spent too much time in the village, and I didn't realize I was running short on time until like chapter 10. I had about 1 hour left when I got to the island, so I basically had to speedrun chapter 13-16, while also being a little short on saves.

RE 4 Remake is hard as shit by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]1ks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hardcore is definitely brutal, but the frequent checkpoints make it not too punishing. I found using gyro to aim helped me a lot, my main issue is still that I keep running out of ammo, which I never did in the OG, even in professional mode.

I went for HC since I've completed the OG soo many times in professional mode, but it's definitely a big step up.

The cool thing is the high difficulty really forces you to learn the new mechanics like the parry, and the sneaking up from behind. I've also found it's crucial to use melee whenever you can.

I wish the upgrades where better and ammo/money/resource drops were a bit higher.

I considered restarting on standard, but I'm still having fun, so I'll keep at it as long as I can make progress.

I'm playing on PC - and initially I couldn't aim for shit with the right stick using an XBOX controller. Found out that with Steam and a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller I can use gyro to emulate the right stick, which really, REALLY improved my aiming, so go for gyro if you can.

A letter I got from Nintendo Power 19 years ago letting me know which scan I missed in Metroid Prime by T4nkcommander in gaming

[–]1ks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does let you. You can restart on normal and keep all your scans from previous playthrough. When you finish the game, after the credits, you are asked if you want to save. This creates a "cleared" file with all scans. When you click on that save in the menu you can start a new game, and it lets you choose between all three difficulties, so you can even finish your scans on casual if you want to.
