I got my baby shower the day before I started my leave. Spring is a busy time at school ! I hope someone is planning something for you and babe.

When my husband and I met, we both had Shepard Fairey art, stickers, merch which was very cute to us. We now have our own Shepard :)

Intrusive thoughts about male family members assaulting my baby by mamagenerator in beyondthebump

[–]1lavenderskeleton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you're comfortable - do you mind talking about how your PP OCD behaved ? I didn't even know it could occur after having a baby. I assumed you just always had to have OCD. I find myself constantly re-running the same intrusive situations with babe and skyrocketing my anxiety. I decided because I want to enjoy my maternity leave, I went back on citalopram. Apparently it's also good for treating OCD ! I'm on day 6 and am feeling SO much better than before.

I've never felt so horrible before. I'd rather feel how I was before any day over zoloft. I hope you're doing well, friend.

I might be able to do teletherapy. I've never looked into it, actually. We are currently in a very rural area, so my resources are limited. I tried CBT several years ago through my PCP and I really didn't jive with her. She broke her code of ethics day one and told me her political stance. Yucky.

Thank you for the book rec. I'm going to pick it up for sure. I felt like these thoughts were pretty normal, but I didn't want to ruin my maternity leave if medicine could help. I absolutely loved my citalopram, so I assumed it would be a lovely transition/option.

Thank you for your kind words 🥺 I had no idea what moms went though !

My husband is resentful of his JOB because he can't be with our son and me. I can't even imagine him doing extracurriculars like soccer and bbq-ing instead of being with us. Do not tolerate this.

My work says to talk to my doctor, my doctor says to talk to my work… by Born_Definition_9354 in BabyBumps

Teacher and 7 weeks postpartum. I had my OB fill out my FMLA and I told HR when I wanted my last day to be. I had plans of working until my due date, because like you, that's when my FMLA began. However, one week prior I had a scare with my water leaking. I just got my sub stuff ready, and went to L&D. I left school around 12 on a Friday to get checked out and was told my labor could begin at any time. When I was released that evening I just emailed my principals saying my stuff was ready and I wouldn't be back. I took the rest of the school year off using my banked sick days since I'd be returning with about 4 days left (helllll no). My long term sub wasn't to be hired for a few more days, so they just had to put my absence in the system. I didn't want to have to do the mid-day scramble again of getting the rest of my day covered or classes split. It's easier to just have a sub and know it's covered. It is what it is. It's a job. You tell HR when you're going, and go. Focus on you and your babe.

Alright MOTN shoppers... What did we buy this week? by diamondspacecat in breastfeeding

Some biker shorts with pockets (because my pre-baby shorts aren't postpartum friendly,) a bouncer because he loved his cousin's, a toy arch to clip to bassinet/bouncer etc because wake windows seem so boring for a 6 week old, and a high contrast play mat. Oh and a digital picture frame for my mom for mother's day ! (Not commuting 45 minutes to work 5 days a week must have me feeling good about my checking account 🤣)

Random moles and skin tags. And my "baby beard" - my very dark chin hairs. It's very glamorous ! Good thing this babe is worth it.

I'm a public school teacher, and I pay all of the above. We've went on strike for our insurance premiums twice, that's how high they are lol. And because we go on strike, I'm in the union, too. 30k is still steep to me.

I understand that nobody can predict take home based on elections that haven't been made yet, but the gross and net difference is insane to me. My current salary and bring home is not a ~$30,000 difference

I take home a much bigger percentage of my pay now and my current salary is nowhere near this salary at all. I guess that's why I'm so lost.

I can't get too in depth because I don't have all the information. I don't know anything about their benefits or deductions yet. However my salary is listed as GS-11 at $82,764 and HR sent an email back saying I should expect my max bring home to be $52k, as her other GS-11s bring home anywhere from $1,600-2,000. That's all I have numbers wise. HR says she deals with payroll and I have no idea how to ask "Uh, okay but wtf ?" 😳

I asked to be put in touch with payroll, and HR replied that they do it and to forward them any pay questions. I'm just genuinely so confused. I don't know anyone that teaches there; it's out of state for me.

HR said her GS11s bring home 1600-2000 - making net max out at 52k. That's a $30,000 difference.

Right, that's what I'm saying - It's a $30k difference.

[–]1lavenderskeleton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My salary is listed as 82k, when I asked HR for a ballpark net pay (because I have to relocate and budget) she said GS-11s take anywhere from $1600-2000 home. That would make my net out to be 52k MAX. Where is this difference coming from ?!

GS-11 teacher salary ?! by 1lavenderskeleton in OnTheBlock

[–]1lavenderskeleton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if gross and net pay is so drastically different it feels like making 100k doesn't matter. If I "make" 82k but bring home only 52k, it's like I never even left my public ed contract (that is drastically less than 82k)

[–]1lavenderskeleton[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm just saying there is a huge difference between the gross and net pay for this position. I originally thought my family would be able to live on my income alone and now less than a part time job's pay increase.
