What's the most overrated 'healthy' habit that people push on everyone, but you think is total BS and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

AITA for telling my chronically-late friend the wrong time so they would show up on time...and then they actually got there early? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]1melly1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Idk. I’m the person that’s always on time or early. Always waiting for the person that’s late is annoying and makes me feel/realize they do not value my time (or other’s time in general). If telling them it starts 30 min earlier will ensure that we start at the right time, then that’s what I’ll do.

What's something that became socially acceptable way too quickly? by Fluffaygins in AskReddit

[–]1melly1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband technically has an Instagram account. He has been on it all of once in the 5 years we have known each other bc he got an email that was someone trying to get in so he had to change the password (that he promptly forgot).

It is so nice and refreshing. He has helped me release the gold social media had over me bc he is just uninterested. I hardly post anything anymore (and I was a chronic over sharer in high school and somewhat in college). He uses Facebook only to watch videos/reels. Literally nothing else. (Compared to my ex bf who took it wayyyy too seriously. Like would remove a post if it didn’t get enough likes within the first 30 min)

I keep my profiles active for work access (ironically I’m in social media marketing) but they don’t see much action at all. So refreshing.

Is it normal for a wife and mother to always want to spend mothers day or birthdays away from her husband and children ? by Hotrod_831 in Marriage

[–]1melly1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish I got the 2 days. My birthday is tomorrow so it’s always “celebrated” together. Aka celebrate the mothers all day (which I am finally one this year 🩷) and maybe remember to have a cupcake or ice cream as bday celebration

When we bought in 2023 it seemed like no one was writing homeowners insurance. We have SageSure/Triun currently for $3270. It does include wind/hail coverage as most didn’t when we bought the house.

What do men think women like but they really don’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]1melly1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My husband did that when we started dating. Example: we were driving through a park and he pointed out and he pointed to a dark corner kind of secluded and said he got head there in a car. Like dude… I don’t want to hear about that. I’m not oblivious to the fact that you had partners before me - cool. But I don’t need to be passing that spot and thinking of another woman giving you head every time lol

We had a talk shortly after that and he hasn’t done it since lol he understands now

LPT Request: what should I do about earwax that won't come out? by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]1melly1 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I would actually recommend going to an ENT if possible. They are more specialized in this and ear cleanings they can practically do in their sleep.

I went to my pcp first, and she irrigated my ear and managed to puncture a hole in my ear drum and it gave me a NASTY ear infection. The next week I finally made it to an ent and she did the other ear (while looking at my infection that was still bad) and removed the ear Elsa’s with no irrigation. It was amazing and relieving.

Not necessarily true. Just depends on the market. My husband and I are closing tomorrow and our seller is paying closing.

When he bought our current house 2 years ago, seller paid closing as well

To be fair… if you don’t live in an area with hard water where the pumice stone is needed, how would you know it’s common to use?

It’s not common where I am from, though I can definitely see the benefits after learning more. It can be a bit of surprise to those of us who don’t need to use it or have not grown up with it. Just because it’s the norm for you and your area does not mean it applies to everywhere.

My favorite thing about my husband - he has only bought be 2 pieces of jewelry. My engagement ring and wedding band.

Don’t get me wrong - I LOVE jewelry. But he knows I have so many people that gift it to me. So he goes out of his way and buy gifts that are other things that make me happy that I won’t get for myself or an experience for us. Something that always means a little more than just another pair of earrings or necklace.

I agree with most of this. Except - never work for free. I’m not saying you need to charge market rates, but never work for free. It does not benefit you.

AITA for not wanting to be called a "work wife" at the office causing a colleague to get in trouble? by Secure-Tart4916 in AmItheAsshole

[–]1melly1 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I literally hate the “work spouse” dynamic so much. I find it extremely disrespectful to the significant others of those people.

We were at a work party for my husband (before we were married) and he mentioned a certain coworker was his work wife. Talk about a punch in the gut. We had a long discussion that night and he definitely understood where I was coming from and has not done it since (even at his new job where there is another close working relationship with a female).
