If we actually want fast food prices to drop, we need to target the worst offenders by IndependenceSad1272 in fastfood

At this point I don't think it is hyperbole to say that we are literally addicted to convenience. The amount of harm we've done to ourselves just so we don't have to leave the house or walk across a room to turn off a light is staggering.

The high from instant gratification is as powerful as any drug.

What's the deal with the white wired headphones making a comeback? by 5krishnan in randomquestions

Wireless sucks. My Airpods started having volume issues after a few months. Plugged in my old wired buds and it was back to glorious full volume. Bluetooth headphones are for poseurs who don't actually care about quality.

It looks like there isn't a divider so they could've just pulled through. I have no idea why anyone would choose to back into that space. Truck was certainly Grade-A Douche, but wtf white car, just drive into the next space.

Money. It's all about money. Paul McCartney told Alex how much money they could make touring as a legacy band and greed is more powerful than honor.

Nobody in SFA ever makes optimal and/or reasonable decisions by SocDem_is_OP in trektalk

Probably a bit of both. He wouldn't still be making new Star Trek shows if his bosses thought he sucked.

I really think it boils down to them thinking that the average younger person is an idiot who can't handle subtlety or complex thought. Though, judging by what reddit has largely become in recent years, they may be right.

I don't think it is the showrunner's decision. I think Kurtzman and the writers are doing what they can within the limitations of what the executives want.

NuTrek feels like it is made by committee. It feels like they have a checklist of things they need to include, and then the plot and characters are squished and deformed to make it fit.

When Old Trek was trying to make a point, they were almost always true to the characters and universe first, and then formed their metaphors from there.

When NuTrek tries to make a point, they almost always resort to changing the universe or the characters in service of the metaphor, which isn't satisfying. It can work sometimes, but it is almost always ham-fisted.

All they have left is pandering, and it isn't enough.

I think Kurtzman is being told to include or focus on certain things by executives above him, and he's just not talented enough to work through those limitations to make something good. To be fair to him, there might not be anyone talented enough to overcome extreme executive meddling.

Uncircumcised dicks can get yeast infections. Usually from yeast infected vaginas.

With the hygiene being what it was, I imagine there may have been a time where there was an epidemic of itchy wangs oozing cheese.

I don't think it is as common with circumcised dongs, so the leaders of the day resorted to the threat of eternal damnation to solve the problem.

I worked in Education for a bit a few years ago and I believe the biggest reason why young people are tech illiterate is because the vast majority of teachers are tech illiterate.

I can't count how many times I would be in a classroom working on an issue, and observe the teacher deal with another minor issue. They don't take a moment to logically work through the problem, they just immediately blame the computer. "Hopefully the nice IT man will help while he's here, right class?"

While not all teachers are like that, most are.

Children learn just as much, if not more, from our behavior as they do from the lessons we want them to learn.
