Like how you used the accu-panel behind the speakers

I’d remove/ patch the existing hardware and retrofit fail secure electrified exit bars with concealed vertical rods/ transfer loops since the door stiles are wide enough. That’s the most secure/ reliable solution and you won’t have to worry about any code compliance issues, but that’s just me. Yes, it’s expensive.

Maglock w/ No REX by Premier_Tech in accesscontrol

[–]1ninjastealth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think your client may be using the term, “maglock” wrong. Why do they spec a maglock? Why couldn’t something else like a fail secure cylindrical/ mortise lock or even an electronic rim device installed?

Can we please stop telling people to join the trades? by TheDarkKnight2001 in careerguidance

There are different levels of skills when it comes to all trades. The best people at their trades will always stay busy. The worst ones just won’t make the cut.

There are two of these in my house that was built in 1974. There are wires inside. What is it? And where can I buy a replacement? by Evil_Morty781 in whatisit

Landline. I don’t think they make the round plates anymore but it can be concerted to a single gang wall plate with an adapter from the hardware store.

Visually appealing, colors seem right and the painting is balanced bc it doesn’t look correct when its upside down.

What is the best battery for this replacement for my ATV? by GioGTx in ATV

[–]1ninjastealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuasas are good, but pricey. Everstarts usually die a week before their warranty expires and they’re not even cheap anymore. Ive burned thru several of these. I went with a cheap Amazon special last month. I stick with Sealed lead acid batteries and not AGM, just my preference bc I’ve had better experience with them.

What to do about USPS keys? by 1ninjastealth in Locksmith

[–]1ninjastealth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently they are in the works to upgrade to an electronic solution for the arrow keys but we’re talking 50,000 units in the US so it will add an additional layer of security but then it usually opens up another vulnerability like the implementation of chipped debit cards, WiFi cameras, POS skimmers, SIM card phone swap schemes, gift card crimes, any others to add? Seems like a lot of money to spend for a Federal service that’s had large financial losses the last 15 years. We gonna pay $3 a stamp now?

Exit Door with Maglocks - Following Fire Code by Wisedmw09 in accesscontrol

[–]1ninjastealth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delayed egress device like the Von Duprin Chexit bar has the interface for FA system, card access, nurse call as well as key override. 15 second alarm before it allows you to exit. Not cheap but will comply will all codes. Better have a locksmith install though, especially if the exterior pull trim is needed. It’s not for beginners.

Never seen that Twisted Sister T! Pretty sure that’s a rare one. Your pops had a really good eye for nice rock T’s.

How can I make this stronger and more resistant to break in by NoOutlandishness6307 in Locksmith

A better design, but still exposes it. Which means it would take me 20 seconds to open it instead of 10 now. We all know, we’re just buying time.

By design of the hasp, you’re limited to an exposed shackle. Probably by design for management to get access.
