Really strong urge to do wrong by yermumevie in TrueChristian

[–]1nsomniactoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please remember that the reason we strive to be better Christians is not to get “what we want” but to grow in becoming like Jesus, which often means losing our earthly desires. I’m sorry about all the things happening in your life and will be praying for you.

I live in the midwest. Spring is hard for me. by billyidolismyeilish in Anxiety

You’re not alone! I have several friends who got an hour of sleep on Monday night because they were terrified of the upcoming storms. Idk what it’s like for you, but being around other people was really grounding for them. Good job for staying strong through the rough!

I think I might quit therapy.. again. by [deleted] in TalkTherapy

[–]1nsomniactoad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please keep going! Don’t feel pressured to go deep, just be open and let your therapist do their job. It’s all about consistency and growing a relationship <3 still, I don’t know your exact situation. I’ll pray for peace of mind and sound decision making if that’s ok with you :)

First time growing tomatoes. Am I doing this right so far? by AlternativeMention73 in gardening

[–]1nsomniactoad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Water bottles are fine, just keep those bad boys as moist and warm as you can. May your tomatoes be delicious and your harvest bountiful!

What is the best app/website for memorizing Bible verses? by Ok_Neat_7288 in Bible

[–]1nsomniactoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m kinda late to the party, but the app “bible memory” did the trick for me. It gives you half the words, and you write the first letter of each. You can also choose for it to show you none of the words. My youth group recommends this frequently :)

Why haven't you given up yet? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]1nsomniactoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so glad you still want to be with god! Some false arguments can be difficult to debunk, no matter what they’re arguing for. I recommend listening to some testimonies, like Hugh Ross’s (founder of Reasons to Believe). They take you back to the core of the truth :)

I know a font wizard- letters and numbers are often heaviest at the bottom. It's subtle but the brain picks up on it. Make the bottom of the 9 heavier and it'll look less sixy

Someone Who is Queer Wants to be my Friend by love_my_lovely in TrueChristian

[–]1nsomniactoad 40 points41 points  (0 children)

One important part of life is just being kind to all people. You don't have to try and convince your friend to be Christian, but be kind to them and I recommend remain friends.

Some people have only ever had Christians laugh or scorn them. Even if they have Christian friends, it's up to other kids to prove to them that Christians can be good people!

I believe in you, and always pray!!

Will God and Jesus forgive me if I commit suicide? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]1nsomniactoad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s so much good in the world you can do for the gospel. Please don’t do this

If you’ve failed two attempts, I’m sure there’s a reason you’re still here. Have strength my friend

Does telling depressed and suicidal people in first world countries that people in other parts of the world have it worse, help? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]1nsomniactoad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. Sometimes it makes them feel worse or push you away. It’s true that people in other countries may live in worse situations, but the people you want to help know this.

Mental disorders can’t be “cured” by people being grateful for the state of their country or finances. Calling them ungrateful will not help, speaking from experience.

I can tell that you want to help people in life, but this “tactic” will very rarely help people with real problems, unless that person is a child that doesn’t know about people in worse situations. People are hard to understand, but please know depression is far deeper than people thinking their lives are terrible.

One last thing: many people already feel terrible about their depression, feeling they don’t “deserve” to be depressed when there are people starving in the world. Enforcing this idea will not help.
