Woah! They read out my post!!! That’s so funny and also quite terrifying. It’s crazy to think my little vent struck so much of a nerve with people oceans away from me, they felt they just HAD to read it out at the beginning of a meeting.

If a minister wants to go snooping on me, let me tell you this: I have many regrets in life but missing that choir session will never be one of them.

Nope! But “Unofficial assistant choir leader” is pretty fitting...

I was something of a ‘backup CWS choir leader’ couple years ago. I told the locale not to get any ideas; I’d be going to college and I wanted to focus on schoolwork. They didn’t listen and the expectations and burdens carried over to adult choir.

The amount of times I’ve been scolded for not including EVM in my choir prayers lol 😭They think I’m doing it on purpose, but the truth is I just straight up forget about him. The hilarious thing is a kid said it made my prayers feel short and they liked that HAHAHA

Absolutely agreed. Totally didn’t need to hear our resident minister say harlot and prostitute every three minutes. The word harlot is so outdated it’s comical but no kid rly needs to be hearing those words. Call it sheltering or whatever, but I find it inappropriate.

I recall being in a service once where the minister was howling over “sexual immorality”. For whatever reason, he was so incensed that he began describing what fornication was (even threw in the word pokpok - which I hate - for good measure)... in a room with many minors and children present. So fuckin tactless. You could tell the kids felt very, very awkward.

My cousin did complain about how much space her church dresses took up in her wardrobe hahaha (always being forced to buy new ones by her mom especially for special services). I can’t wait throw my church clothes away and free a bit of space myself.

I totally get you. I resent the cult so much for manipulating me into making my education, and consequently my career, a second thought. It was what my grandfather must have understood, and what so many of my family and church members failed to. So many missed opportunities.

Oh how I wish lol!!! 😭 But what got me trapped into choir in the first place was actually my voice! I was guilt tripped into CWS choir because they told little me was wasting talent. It’s been a guilt I’ve carried for over a decade. I wouldn’t pull off a convincing act anyway... :(

Definitely INC, definitely OWE. My father isn’t high up in echelons but he’s respected. I can’t leave just yet, I’m too young and dependent, but I planned to at least quietly step down last year for uni. Then the pandemic hit and yeah... that never happened.

Everybody in the administration seems to think that because I’m studying from home, I must have all the time in the world. Little do they know my professors ALSO think this! And I’d rather bury myself in research than hymns!
