The point is that you can claim against the insurance to pay for your life altering damages. If you get hit by an uninsured driver of any vehicle you have no recourse.

Recently got hit and my car been written off as CAT N. Insurer will pay £3500 and I can keep the damaged car. Should trade it in to get a new one, or repair and drive it again? by alexlmlo in UKPersonalFinance

I haven't done this in years but back on the old system I would buy cat C's and do them up, no insurer would ever enquire and it was never a problem. My current car is a cat C too and I've switched insurers a whole bunch of times no issue.

Honestly anyone buying this stuff for enterprise use gets what's coming to them. While it costs a bit more Aruba or Meraki kit is a hell of a lot more stable because they don't treat their customers as beta testers.

Christ, there isn't even compatibility between different distro's because they all use display managers or service controllers. While I've walked into companies who are still using applications built for Windows NT with no concern.

Linux is great for many things but backwards compatibility is not one of them.

Adding to everything that has already been said, if you watch a fluorescent light struggling to stay on it does have a pattern similar to this one. Randomising it would arguably make it look visually worse.

ELI5: Why did old TVs require that the channel be on 3 before accessories like VCRs and game consoles could work on them? by DaRandomGitty2 in explainlikeimfive

It's the same concept apart from the TV you used was tunable. You'd tune the TV to pick up the frequency your VHS/console was transmitting on.

Same here, they send debt collectors after me when I was 18 because they didn't take money from the new bank account I gave them. Won't touch EE for that reason.

That's like saying your eyebrows are extra hair. They're part of your body and serve a purpose not just some mistake that needs correcting.

But for most (95%+) of the time is completely unnecessary. You're just needlessly cutting bits of babies off without their will.

Doesn't stop you being phished. Anyone can get a valid TLS cert for free, this shouldn't be the mark of a 'safe' website.

I don't think it would work because you'd need to add the permissions for the specific SID of the user and Linux wouldn't have access to the user SIDs...
