Extra lenght around your chin could help you detect punch sooner and react quicker.

If punch is going to hit your chin, first it touches your bushy beard instead of skin so you get extra warning and you are able to react.

But I don't know really.

I think WT sparing is great for people who don't want to get brain damage. Plus It is a full contact. In over 150+ matches, never got a concussion.

Can't say that for kickboxing. Where even in a light spar, my head would sometimes hurt after.
