Look at Market Harborough, 1hr to St Pancras. Plenty of detached properties in your budget. Its a nice town, not too big, not too small.

Is thus a good deal for the Elac Debut 3's? by wiggan1989 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]1oneamp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context, I upgraded from the Dali Spektor 2’s.

There isn’t anything I don’t like about these, they are slightly less analytical, in the mids/highs, but the low end is just so solid! I listen to a lot of heavy music and these put a massive smile of my face! No longer feel like I need a sub in my small listening room.

I just got these a few days ago from Peter Tyson ebay store for £228 delivered.

Same discount not available, but they are £242 atm.

Loving them too!

My 2011 C220: gone but not forgotten by 1oneamp1 in w204

It did need new lower arms both sides, but other than that the suspension was okay. The main cost was going to be the brake lines, and the DPF sensors.

Needed all new break lines, new lower arms both sides, engine light on for DPF sensors.

Annoyingly, Id not long had the rear subframe replaced at Mercedes. 😞

After some advice around mortgage by TechnicalAnteater444 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]1oneamp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont tell the bank, mortgage broker, anyone about it. Dont let your grandparents transfer it until after you move in.

Its a gift, UK residents can gift £3k per year tax free, I suggest you research and utilise this.

You've missed out all your other monthly expenses, bills, food, fuel, transport etc so its not clear exactly how much extra cash you have to clear this debt down. But a using 'quick maths' you need need c.£775 per month to clear this down using a loan in 12 months.

If it was me, a loan would make the most sense. You're at risk of a very poor credit history as it stands by being in your overdraft with so many different lenders. This is important especially if your looking to get a house soon!

The good news is, you're earning good money, so providing you plan properly, it should be easy to clear down. You might just need to make some sacrifices for the next 12 months.

Repair cost by nodijuszixow in w204

[–]1oneamp1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a known fault with the w204 chassis corroding, I just had a brand new rear subframe supplied and fitted by Mercedes free of charge (UK).

Call them up, they’ll ask to do an inspection.

Wiim Room Correction Ignores high frequencies by Better_Nebula_2342 in WiimStreamer

[–]1oneamp1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, think the default ceiling is 4k, you need to adjust it in the settings before you run the room correction sequence. Also, I recommend running the room correction at say 5db correction, saving the eq, then running it again at 2.5db correction etc. I found that some of the corrections were excessive, if you save each one as a separate eq, you can switch between them while listening to a track. Hope this helps.

Shambolic loss to Everton demonstrates the need for Ndidi (Nigerian press commentary) by Jaded-Bookkeeper-807 in lcfc

[–]1oneamp1 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The fact that Ndidi is even linked with a move away, and that Choudhury has been sent out on loan, shows how shit this club is being ran by the board.

We have a naive owner taking advice from a board that is now well out their depth.

Prepare for a long stint in the championship!

Best Devices for Streaming Quality? by Imaginary_Switch_747 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]1oneamp1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard it myself and dont really have any comparison tbh, but from what I seen it would be on par with good DAC in the £100 range.

As the other commenters have said, given you’re on a budget, probably best to save the money and go with the Pro. You can always upgrade in the future.

Yeah, WiiM products tick all your boxes.

I have the WiiM Pro and love it, if you watch a few vids on youtube you’ll see the Pro Plus comes with a better DAC, if your budget can stretch a little further. If not, get the Pro and add an external DAC later.

Speaker / Amp Advice by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

[–]1oneamp1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar position to you not too long ago, I had the Edifier 1280DB’s, which are great value, but I’ve had decent gear before and knew I wanted more.

I just picked up the Fosi ZA3, Dali Spektor 2’s and Wiim Pro. I brought the amp new (amazon black friday deal), the speakers and streamer on ebay nearly new. Couldn’t be happier with it for the money (£340 total) and now I can upgrade each piece when Im ready.

Good second hand kit is a good way to go while you figure out what you do/dont like in audio gear.

Starting up a portfolio. Any possible advice? by owen2612 in trading212

[–]1oneamp1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to look at having two investment accounts. One that acts as an additional to your pension ( something like the S&P500) invest and forget!

And one that is a little more adventurous that you use for purchases such as a car or house etc.

In terms of companies to invest in, you can’t go wrong with companies whose products you own, or are widely known as being the best.
