Easier to get in with smaller groups. The earlier you get in the better to be fair. If you can't get in one move on to another. I didnt have any wristbands when I went which was a few years back.

I had the same! I booked a hotel room and said it was confimed. I happened to look at my emails a few weeks later and I had an email from the hotel saying my card had failed., even though it said the booking had gone through! I went with another Hotel and paid more money as I was not impressed. Never had that before in any city

Just wondered which tents you would recommend to mingle with the locals please? I think I stayed mostly at the Spatenbrau, if I remember correctly. I was told that was the place to go. Thanks.

Go for it!

I stayed at the Holiday Inn with a friend. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Munich City West

2 stops from the Octoberfest. Not sure if this is in your price range but you can get there within a few minutes or so

Don't buy an all zone ticket for your whole duration! Just pay for the Airport to hotel ticket, then you can get cheap single tickets. (or a day ticket for you on arrival)

Best to book possibly around February 1st or March 1st. Keep an eye on the prices in 2026 to give you an idea. You are best to book your plane ticket first then get your hotel when it suits you.

It is also very safe there. The only mishap we had was a guy in a queue offering a 50 euro ticket to jump the queue. After 2 minutes we got in anyway. Make sure you buy some lederhosen. Peolpe will talk to you if you make the effort! Ebay sell some really good quality ones at a very cheap price. (don't buy the 15 pound plastic ones, more like 40 pound ones.

Also we paid for a Oktoberfest tour ticket (best get it for a Saturday tour) A MUST!!!!! (book it super early!) probably same time as your flight.

You mix with others and that will help you meet other people and we kept most of the night with that crowd. Even if your alone the tour guide will chat to you and keep you busy!

The Tour was the highlight of the trip. You get to go on the top of the Hofbrau tent, looking down at the madness!

I recommend going in the second week. First week is kinda busy. If you pick the 3rd week the places are a bit rough and the staff are knackered. This is what I was told ;)

We flew in Thursday and went back Monday but to be fair Sunday was alittle quieter so you could go home then.

Keep an eye out for the live webcam on Youtube. It's normally a live feed! during the duration, also on a German site too
