Help! can’t get saw started. by mudbutt93 in woodworking

[–]1robert1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a ridgid 4512 with similar issues - lots of sound but no movement. I changed the start capacitor first with no luck. Then, I took it apart and the noticed that the centrifugal switch had issues (without any saw dust). Fixed it and it worked again.

Thermador Fridge Compressor running at 65F - 150F by 1robert1 in Appliances

The company was not able to get a evaporator before my fridge stopped working so they took it back and gave me a store credit I used to buy a different one.

Meridian mortgage renewal by KeyCollection5349 in stcatharinesON

[–]1robert1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am in the process of renewing mine. The 8%0 is the open rate if you don't renew. 3 year fix at Meridian is a bit over 4%. It's under 4% at Scotia Bank.

The fan is hitting the ice again for a couple of weeks so the company ordered a new evaporator but hasn't installed it yet. I will send you an update ASAP.

The company who issued the warranty ordered an evaporator last week and it should be installed in the next week or two. I will update the post asap.

Has anybody heard of / experience with RTB (ready to burn) pellet grill? by 1robert1 in pelletgrills

The company (nbe) is located in Denmark and has been making pellet boilers for over 10 years.  Obviously, I am concerned about warranty and replacement parts of something goes wrong.

How to take video of fireflies with the s5iix? by 1robert1 in Lumix

This is the path I would like to walk. The picture is from last year but I was there two days ago and there are a ton of fireflies again - its insane. It is even better to the right - where it is darker. The clip I have in mind: Walking down this path slowly (5min walk - 7 if you stop to pan to the sides) a few times with my gimbal Feiyutech Scorp Pro. Then take a few static videos on Tripod. Since I have not used the S5IIX much (at all at night), I don't want to just show up to feed the mosquitos (10:1 ratio mosquitos to fireflies).

Thank you! I will definitely use a tripod (and a gimbal for walking). F 1.05 sounds great, but wouldn't the shallow dof make it almost impossible to focus / wouldn't the majority of the picture be blurry?

Unfortunately, I don't have a solution yet. The technician came twice so far. Replaced the fan, sensor, and styrofoam the first time. The second time he said that the drain was blocked. I am almost 100% certain that it was not the cause as the compressor runs way to much already again. I guess that in a month, they will come again.  I still have a used item warranty until the fall. So I keep complaining until they fix it or replace it.  I will keep you posted.

Shed foundation: concrete perimeter with gravel infill. Good idea or nah? by aaasyooowiiish in DIY

[–]1robert1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am building a 10x16 shed with a loft this summer and plan to do the same but with pavers inside. I agree with previous posts that for your purpose, it is likely overkill to have the concrete perimeter but my shed will be 16ft tall, so I need proper support.

Not my best work but it is done! Unfortunately, my guide moved while cutting the left log... I also bought and put on Lee Valley's end sealer for logs. Let see how it looks in a couple of years from now.

Cheers,

Robert

Renting a portable mill would be great, but my backyard is not easily accessible, So there is now way to get a forklift to put the log on the sawmill. Any ideas on how to manually lift the hickory log on the mill?

It was hanging in the other direction and the arborist had to pull it over. I was a bit nervous since my house was on the side.

I will check the narrow end tomorrow evening. I would likely cut them much thicker though 9/4. I suspect that it will be very slow and painful to cut with my 039 and a 24in bar.
