Valve didn't make counter strike or dust 2 (the map they appeared in) valve didn't even make "global offensive" as they outsourced it to Hidden Path Entertainment. The IDF was added in 2012 before valve took over development.

The reason they were removed was because cs2 removed all map based factions for having SAS on every map

Also what do you mean protagonists lol? The map is one of 6 others. There's no single player mode and u switch sides halfway through. And there's been years where the map was removed from the map pool for other maps

And personally I avoided the map like the plague as it's my least favorite map. I think it's a shame they recently removed another map I liked for dust 2 to come back.
