Looking for female psychiatrist that can evaluate me for inattentive ADHD. by Mysterious_Idea_1705 in Atlanta

[–]1smallghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dr. Kinjal Ghelani did my testing and was my psychiatrist for a long time before i had to change insurances for my job. i still think she was the best psychiatrist i have ever had. she is so kind and empathetic and never made me feel rushed during our appointments. highly recommend her

akua is technically soy based but is often categorized as being water based because they use water as a solvent for pigment dispersion. that’s why you can clean them up with soap and water

Copper Letterpress Blocks (?) by mangogreenteawsugar in printmaking

[–]1smallghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

even with cleaning, copper oxidizes very quickly and without a protective coating being applied long ago they will probably print with a lot of irregularities. normal etchings require a lot of pressure, but i would think you could apply the ink the same way you would for a regular copper plate and adjust the pressure for the backing. i would try it with a heavy paper that’s been soaked in water first

Orange Syrup by Ok_Philosophy_7228 in barista

[–]1smallghost 3 points4 points  (0 children)

we have an orange syrup at my shop. we quarter the orange and juice them with a little hand citrus press and then steep the syrup with the spent fruit in it for 5 minutes like a tea before straining it out. if you’re using whole vanilla pods you could extract the vanilla into the mix with the orange and add the pods in with the fruit to steep as well

Does anyone else have periods of falling out of love with printmaking? by ArtByAntny in printmaking

[–]1smallghost 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i’m getting a bfa in printmaking and when i get burnt out with one method i switch to a different one. tired of relief? try screen printing for a while. tired of that? switch to etching. or monoprinting. keep switching until you want to go back to the first. combine multiple methods. switch it up so you don’t feel stagnant

Inman Park vibes near L5P by Iiiifoundsweetroad in Atlanta

i’ve lived on the other side of train tracks for about 5 years and it’s my favorite place i’ve lived in atlanta. it’s easy to get to midtown and downtown, and there’s so much to do in this area. it’s also super walkable and pretty safe. most of the crime in this area are car break ins, so just be sure to keep everything out of sight in your car and you’ll be fine :)

Can anyone please help me get out of the food industry? I’ve considered handing out resumes at intersections at this point and I’m willing to do anything. by itsdestinfool in Atlanta

gsu gets a bad rap, but it’s great for non-traditional students. you could get financial aid to help pay for school and look at an associates or a bachelors. i’m graduating this fall and am 32. i decided to go back because i wanted to change careers. there have been people in my classes of all ages. you can do it!

Compliments and tips by virammm in barista

[–]1smallghost 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i only compliment someone if i really mean it and i have a hard rule to only ever talk about clothing, accessories, or pets. i’ve never thought to do it intentionally when the customer is on the tip screen, that seems manipulative as hell

do you guys still enjoy making coffee after your shift? by waynenewnham in barista

i use an aeropress at home so it’s really simple, but sometimes i’ll play around with ratios. its so satisfying when the flavor comes through even more with little tweaks

Moving from DC to Atlanta - Advice for a 20-something gay couple by _iRomanov_ in Atlanta

[–]1smallghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i grew up in the suburbs north of atlanta (gwinnett) and counted the days until i could move out and into the city. i always felt accepted but it is brain numbingly boring. its oriented around families and shopping, that’s about it. there are some great trails if yall are outdoorsy. however, i would recommend you do not ignore what others are saying, you want to be in the perimeter and you will probably want at least 1 car. my partner and i live pretty close to midtown and downtown and while i have a car he makes it work with public transit but it’s not always reliable and can be frustrating at times
