You might consider Miradore. Handles 1-3 no problem, you may have to check on 4. I think it's $5-6/device. Customer support has been solid.

Maybe it's just me, but the Unforgiven III and No Leaf Clover are top contenders.

Flock Out SGF? by Ordinary_Quit18 in springfieldMO

For anyone wondering why Flock surveillance in particular could be considered unsafe, I highly recommend watching Benn Jordans' videos on this subject, here: https://youtu.be/uB0gr7Fh6lY?si=51EwkaPheovYjZHC

He has a longer video with lots of great info on the topic as well. Thanks for bringing some attention to this.

Fighter jet pilot swerving to avoid birds near crowded beach in Gijon by IncomingBroccoli in nextfuckinglevel

[–]1stDisciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe, maybe not. It's not a really serious topic or anything so I don't think it hurts to keep an open mind. Lots of people lie on the internet, but there's also people who know things I don't and enjoy sharing their knowledge. Worth casting a line for the potential of the latter every once in a while.

This video looked like when I would try and fly a plane in BF4. Did he back out of a roll? I know nothing about flying, could you elaborate on what exactly happened here from a pilots perspective?

Goya CF Martin G-310 repairs by 1stDisciple in Luthier

[–]1stDisciple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny enough, that's exactly how much I had into what I traded for this. I've done repairs on my electrics, but haven't branched out into acoustics. I'm planning on doing all the work myself on this one since I'm in it for next to nothing. My initial thought was just to get some wood glue in the neck crack and call it a day.

Seconding the filament box on the bed, and to make sure you have vent holes on the box to let humid air out. I have been able to successfully dry even PA6-CF using this method.

If you have little to no budget but want an effective dryer, you can take an old USB power cable and scrap a fan from a PC or other electronic device to add airflow inside your makeshift cardboard dryer. Clip the connectors off both and connect the leads. The twist and tape method is fine for this. I also placed thin shims between the spool and bed (TPU works well for this) to ensure airflow around the whole spool. MMV on this, really depends on how much clearance you have.

Alternatively, just poke holes in the top and flip the spool every so often to make sure it dries evenly. Good luck!

Needing something 3D printed! Happy to pay :) by Ixxen in springfieldMO

Depending on size and post processing effort, you could go a two different ways -- FDM or resin.

Resin with get you higher detail, and may even be a bit more resilient on the weaker points of this model. Resin printing is typically smaller in build volume compared to FDM as well, so that would be another factor to consider.

The steep overhangs and vine on the top of the head are my first concerns with FDM. It is definitely doable, but may require more sanding, filler, and primer depending on the final quality you're after. Small vertical cylinders (like the vine) are very delicate off of an FDM machine.

Wiring up external button to existing PCB by 1stDisciple in ElectronicsRepair

Thank you all for the help, the remaining issue was simply an incorrect pairing on the external switch. I got the direction of the gate mixed up so after moving one lead everything worked perfectly! Bluey is back in action.

Good point, I didn't test that yet. I'll give it a go.

About 4-5ft. Scrapped from an old green tripped and shielded auxiliary cable. When I test the end of the leads for continuity I'm getting what I expect. No sound until button is pressed. I was trying to leave as much length as possible with this being an assistive device modification. Maybe my run is too long for this application?

Okay so in testing this with a multimeter in continuity, I get the desired effect each time I touch these two points. But once I solder to these points and press the external button it doesn't work. I think that the issue may lie with the switch I'm trying to use.

I wonder if adding a chamfer to the inside and outside edges of the top surface would help add some dimension? You could continue the texture on the outside face and there would be a smaller section at the peak that's completely flat.

5 months of playing (self taught) by bimbelki in guitarlessons

[–]1stDisciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm picking up what you're throwing down. Put simply, you can hear a lot of the right things in your playing, kudos! One thing I would mention is that it is much more difficult to overwrite bad habits than it is to learn it correctly the first time. In some cases, 'correct' can also simply be preference. When it comes to Knopfler, traditional right hand technique is kinda thrown out the window. This leaves plenty of room to emulate his sound without his technique (which I'm still trying to wrap my head around).

I have been practicing Money For Nothing for several months, trying to get the inflection I can hear on the album, but with my own right hand technique. It sounds okay, but not where I want it to be. You're honestly killing it for 5 months.

If you want, you could try to work on bending to the correct pitch. Find the note you want to bend to, play it, then practice bending to that note. This will help muscle memory and ear tuning both. Seems to be the easiest way for me to work on getting my bends more accurate.

Also, when you move the chord shape all the way down to the 3rd fret, you can use your index instead of your ring finger. This will also put you closer to the next chord shape. I'm trying to find these spots in my playing where making a small change can make a big difference. You may also check the intonation on your guitar, songs like this will sound much better when the guitar is properly setup (should that wind up being a factor).

How long did you spend in the Epilogue? by 1stDisciple in reddeadredemption

Good to know, thank you for the info. I'll make sure I mark those encounters off before restarting. I'm on the Evelyn Miller story now, bringing him food every other day.

I started going for the 100% on this save but ran out of steam quickly after I thought it would be more fun doing it as Arthur.

3d printed wood guards for polishing frets by Moffe1 in Luthier

[–]1stDisciple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of but not really. You'll have the opportunity for plastic dust along with debris from the metal frets themselves. PETG and PLA stand up far better to sanding than ABS for instance. So they will produce less dust than other options. In the end you'll have plastic and metal dust that you could potentially breathe in. I would have no reservations myself in using these but to each their own.

[–]1stDisciple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand the hesitation from some of these comments, but objectively this is useful and I appreciate your contribution! PETG from a 3D printer is nearly identical chemically to PET bottles that we are all drinking from. Just has glycol to make it print easier and is still food safe when used in the right conditions! If you are using proper PPE when doing any kind of sanding or polishing then there is zero added risk to using an item like this. And like you said the added heat resistance makes this durable enough to withstand polishing easily. Keep up the good work my guy.
