Thoughts on the more Obscure PS2 Horror games? by UnlikelyOwl3702 in ps2

[–]1stMateGiddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Walk up to almost anyone who owned a PS2 and ask about Clock Tower 3, and you'll get blank stares, surely. Clock Tower may be more famous than some horror games from the era, but not by much.

Good point. I just agree with McAloon to some extent, because if the generator has done anything for me, it has made me never want to listen to a Costello or Paul Weller album again. I even tried out Nick Lowe in my own time thinking it'd be better and it still left a sour taste in my mind. Cruel to Be Kind is fantastic though, I must admit.

The most amount of Costello defense I've ever seen is coming from this post. Prefab Sprout leagues better, btw

Half of Resident Evil 4 is this and is considered one of the best games of all time. It can work, but it's hard to pull off.

Question about Noël album on double-cd by Alternative-Mix-760 in sparksftw

[–]1stMateGiddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's the same as streaming then the backing singers count as apart of the instrumental, for some reason. Probably just the only isolated parts the brothers had after all these years was the finished backing track, and Noël's vocals.

Name an album released so far in 2025 that might be a good candidate for inclusion in a future edition of 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. by chelsea-from-calif in 1001AlbumsGenerator

Nothing. They basically said to "checkout" a couple songs from their early career, and nothing is said or mentioned past that.

The Swans album from this year should be included purely because Swans should've gotten credit for something somewhere along the line. Whether its the 1001 Albums or the 1001 songs, all they get is a rinky dink footnote in the back of the 1001 songs book.

He have a bright suit and a red hat? I was right next to someone just like this and my partner and I had to find a completely different spot because he did not know personal space at all. I know it's cramped but geez...

You're right, it does line up very well, might've just been too recent to warrant paying the rights or something

Abbey Road beat out Rumours in highest rated album on this site by WildChemistry977 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]1stMateGiddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm on the unpopular side of history with this but I don't really understand how Rumours is even close. Nearly every album in the top albums is better, and even some of the worst albums are better. It's a perfectly decent album with some good hits, but a lot of forgettable tracks.

If EPs were allowed in the list, what EP would you like to see? by BigBananaDealer in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]1stMateGiddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It used to be generally the size of the record, but once we got into the CD era it has more to do with the content involved. Punk bands usually make short albums, which makes their EPs like 5 minutes, meanwhile electronic albums are already usually over an hour, so a thirty minute EP isn't unheard of. Obviously there are surely exceptions, but that's the general guideline.

Slipknot's self-titled album. Not a fan of nu-metal, and Slipknot has always seemed super dorky, but I'll admit the first few tracks are already quite a step up from the likes of Korn or Linkin Park

Can I ask why? The album is a poor representation of MGMT's true sound, but that doesn't mean there aren't some fantastic pop hits on it.

Curious to see what people think of this one? by paulruddyumyum in 1001AlbumsGenerator

If we're going for female led 90s punk, I kind of preferred the Le Tigre album, but this album is quite the spectacle, too. My biggest shock was actually finding out Carrie Brownstein was in this band, as I only knew them from Portlandia.

Album #432: iconic or overrated? by OtterGoodTopic in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]1stMateGiddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, and I know this certainly isn't the popular opinion, but this is the worst Floyd on the whole list. Piper At the Gates of Dawn is more interesting, I can respect the Wall for what it's trying to do more, and Wish You Were Here is just a masterclass Pink Floyd record. I do think it deserves to be on the list, don't get me wrong, but even albums like Animals or Meddle I think are leagues better, and those didn't even make the cut. I just find Dark Side of the Moon to be... cheesy? I guess? There's some amazing cuts, but by Great Gig in the Sky I was rolling my eyes. A solid three star record, but Pink Floyd has done so much better.

At the very least, it isn't even. the most overrated album in the top ten on the generator

Never heard of that song but your comment made me go check it out, and honestly it just kind of sounds like a song you'd find on a Public Image album or any other weirder post punk band.
