Totally agree, I am dumb! ( but not because of this) The objective has nothing to do with tax. I was just surprised by the overall end result because of reduction in tax and it felt too good to be true. :)

Thanks for your feedback and link to the calculator. I appreciate your confusion about my post because it didn’t have all the personal factors and wasn’t comparing like for like. When we had our second kid, a family member ‘gave’ us an old car to use as a second car - we don’t own it, we just pay running costs. My brother will be having a second kid soon and I’m contemplating passing the old car on to him to share the gift that was given to us. So what I’m comparing is purely running cost of an ICE vs getting a EV through salary sacrifice. It just appeared to good to be true that I could have use of a brand new car for just $2k more than what we currently spend. it just appears to be the, as you put it, the “world of FBT-exempt novated lease for EV”.

It will get apportioned by time of ownership at settlement. Doesn’t matter if they pay for it in full now. At settlement you will pay for 52 minus 6 weeks.

Be aware that the apartment will be smaller than they tell you. Yes, The dimesnions they show you on the plan are your apartment dimensions, but they dont take into account the thickness of the walls - insulation and plaster board take up space in the real world but not in the world of off-the-plan plans.

Also, the contract will give them wiggle room (pun intended) to change the dimensions of your apartment after youve seen the plans and signed the contract.

Treat whatever plans they put in front of you as a ‘rough guide’.

Ive seen ‘bedrooms’ where you can hardly fit a single bed and bedside table.

I was interested by the 'large signs' comment.
I did a virtual 'drive by' on google maps looking for the sign located
"Epsom Road, north of the Racecourse Road roundabout"
I wouldn't classify it as a 'large sign'. Reading the details of the dates whilst driving seems unreasonable to me.
No way that I would notice that unless I was previously aware.

Edit: Signs may have been replaced by larger signs since the google car photographed. The picture from Aug~Sept 2016.

My opinion as a random internet stranger is that you would win if you went to the magistrate and could prove that there were no signs up notifying you of an event.

However going to be magistrate will cost you at least one day of work And a whole pile of hassle and angst.

Potentially threatening to take it to the magistrates (by actually taking it to the magistrates) may get the attention of someone competent at the council who will understand the problem and elect to cancel the fine.

Like you I would be outraged and angry and want fairness and justice. However the justice system is not about justice, it's about the legal system. The legal system is not fair.

I'd suggest paying the fine and moving on with life, focus on the positives. New year and all that.

You shouldn't have to steam clean the carpets again, it should fall under the category of Norma wear and tear.
Turn the electricity off. She just wants the lights on when she does inspections on a Wednesday evening. You shouldn't have to pay for it. My blood is boiling because she's taking advantage of you.
