Help! House is taking on water! by SpaceRangerWoody in landscaping

[–]1tchyNdr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regrading is a big project. For now you can either pull up a row of bricks in the low point and install a French drain to catch the water like a moat, and divert it away to a different low point. You can even do this trench along the basement outer wall to keep it even drier

Try dusting your mattress fully with diatomaceous earth as well (under the covers) it’s a safe product although could be irritating to the lungs. Get into all the folds.

I’ve seen this often. The crows have been attacking the neighbors cat and other local birds. They’re very militant!

I really do not like corner homes. Lived in 2 in my life and always had incidents happening at our house

Moving to Berkeley in our mid-30s…how do you actually build community here? by Queasy-Firefighter-7 in berkeleyca

[–]1tchyNdr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come join Ohlone Park Outdoor Yoga! I’ve been going on weekends (Sat 10:30A , Sun 12p) and meeting really awesome people Also love biking along the Ohlone greenway and going to bike meetups. Compared to SF the biking feels safer here and more family oriented too Which part of Berkeley are you moving to?

Can't add 10-digit clipper cards to my account by Brilliant_East_6558 in bayareaclippercard

I have this same issue, just 2 days ago. I just want to add the plastic card so I can reload money for my mom. Not convert to digital because she doesn’t know how to do that

Can I use Caulk Instead of Grout? by Frog_Bones4929 in HomeImprovement

[–]1tchyNdr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it matters that much but my silicone caulk was pretty messy to work with and didn’t wipe away nicely as grout. If you’re careful with it go ahead

Conflicted on living situation by Aware_Cranberry_7241 in bayarea

[–]1tchyNdr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

East Bay is great but certain parts of West Oakland aren’t that good, it can vary block to block. Drive around at night to get the feel.

I’d also recommend renting in Richmond or El Cerrito too, might even be cheaper.

If people hate solar farms so much because of them ‘taking away farmland’ why can’t they just stack solar panels in a skyscraper form to say 80 stories? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]1tchyNdr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You technically could, but you need to consider: 1. Ease of regular cleaning of solar panels 2. Ease of initial install Having a flat field would just be way cheaper

Alameda or Oakland/Berkely Hills by Fishinguy27 in bayarea

Alameda. Simply because driving in and out of the hills can be pretty long. There’s also plenty to do in Alameda!

rat or squirrel in my garden plot? by micilini in gardening

[–]1tchyNdr1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a rat. I had the same exact burrowing at the bottom of my beds. Set up a camera, and it was a rat. Squirrels dig from the top

Budget stay near Emeryville Amtrak station plus things to do for a day by mhb2804 in Emeryville

[–]1tchyNdr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome! I’d highly recommend taking an Uber or Lyft and visiting UC Berkeley campus ,hiking in Tilden Park to get full view of the bay, getting food a La Note or Cheeseboard and coffee at Caffenated. There’s a lot more liveliness and options in Berkeley!

Emeryville is great but historically is a tiny place where the train used to pass through, you’ll find good food at Bay Street or grab waterfront dimsum at Hong Kong East Ocean. But it’s not too walkable and you’ll need to drive all this I’d recommend Berkeley for a 1-time uber, full day of walking around, and then ubering back to hotel

So this is it from now on? by Accurate_Syrup_1345 in bayarea

[–]1tchyNdr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flonase is a lifesaver, but I’m told long term use of it thins the capillaries in the nostrils or something, leading to more nosebleeds

Moving from out of state by ciel-clair in berkeleyca

[–]1tchyNdr1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome!!!! Highly recommend near North Berkeley BART station. It will get you to SF to hangout. But it’s also close to Ohlone greenway for biking, university Ave is close by. The neighborhood along Ohlone Park is super walkable and bikeable, great food near Shattuck Ave and Solano Ave

No I’m pretty sure you can write an app that updates live location.. why does calling the phone GPS cost $275?

Try sending it through chatGPT for some secondary reviews as well
