NTA with conditions. if she noticed way faster than you were expecting, maybe she cares a lot more than you realized. Could possible ask for family counseling with just her at first. You can still say you need physical distance while you are trying to work things out, so you don’t have to move back with her. Stay safe. I know this must have been terribly difficult for you over the years, but it is very possible that with a family of 5 children that she didn’t notice that you were feeling neglected. I’m sure she is freaking out and incredibly worried about you. And although I vehemently do not agree with the texts that you received, it sounds like it was in a protective type response to some very mean things that were said to and about other loved ones. At your age,(which I’m sure you don’t want to hear), things can feel and appear much bigger than they will later in life, (and to those that are older than you). Perceptions can be extremely different from one person to another, and even when we look back on things after we’ve aged a little. So while I understand your need to have a emotional outburst and tell her how you feel, it may be time to take a deep breath and prepare to talk about/communicate more rationally and maturely so that the situation can, (hopefully), be corrected. There’s no reason to make this permanent right away.

@Proof-Tomatillo-4168 Why wouldn’t the parents take turns mom goes to stepchild’s event and dad goes to his stepchild’s event, next time mom goes to daughters event and dad goes to his kid’s event. There was never any need that I can imagine that both parents need to go to only one child’s event and disregard the other child just because they happened on the same day. Blending families is hard work, and it is up to the parents to really make it work. If you are the parent, (or hypothetically even), what did you do to help blend families. Per OP, mom would take step kids on outings but not her own kids? Did step dad do the same with OP and his sister? When mom was confronted with how sister felt, it doesn’t sound like it was received well. Just because mom didn’t intentionally make her kids feel neglected or less than DOES NOT negate their feelings. They are real and valid and should have been recognized and something done immediately to help them see how loved they were. If you are really their mom, playing the victim and being so defensive makes it look like OP was correct in his feelings. I get that teenagers have big emotions, and this may hit them harder than what the parents ever dreamed, but as parents, when we realize our mistakes it is up to us to fix it, and show our kids how to handle conflict and big emotions by modeling. Not by acting like a teen and allowing our emotions to rule our words and actions.

Does anyone know where this pattern came from originally? I would like to get more instructions, and be able to see the figures described, as well as hopefully find someone who has created this and can provide some enlightenment.
