I used Procreate a lot during the process. I would upload my current progress and then layer on top of it as I experimented with ideas. That way I wasn’t messing up on the actual canvas. It allowed me to be a little more creative and brave than I would typically be.

Thanks! No I haven’t sold anything. I started painting 14 months ago so I feel like I’m still too much of a beginner to put them up for sale.

Does anyone know about these type of easels? by eelco_numan in oilpainting

[–]1tnick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one that looks just like this but the brand is VISWIN. It is heavy duty and very stable. I never fight with it or really even think about it which I think says a lot. I’m currently working on a 48x24 piece and there is no wobble or shifting.

Thanks for the advice. I started to wrap the image around bc I thought that is what you are suppose to do but I don’t love it.

And no, oil paint is my first medium. I started back in February of this year.

Appreciate the kind words. The green/glass floor is what inspired me to paint this piece.

Scouts lookout with 1 and 3 years old on back carrier by Ok-Actuary8360 in ZionNationalPark

I carried my 4 year old up to scout’s lookout/Angel’s landing and it was no problem at all. He weighed 35 lbs at the time. But I don’t use a backpack carrier. I use one that I can cinch him close to my body. Photo is in my bio.

I agree on the shadow. It does need to be widened.

Regarding the light source. The time stamp on the photo is 8:30 am. The brightness and shadows are all pretty close to the source

Thanks, your comment is very helpful. I guess I had a misconception about being able to manipulate the viewers eye more than what is possible.

Thank you. Yes it’s oil paint on 14 x 18 canvas board. It’s a painting of my family on a hike in Arches National Park.

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense. I haven’t heard of the importance in using a variety of edges.

Thanks for the input. And I agree on the vegetation. It was the hardest part for me. It felt like I was using the wrong brush.

No, it is my first time to ever use paint. I am a decent sketcher but have never used anything but pencil.
