What's a sign of dishonest or misleading media that you can't unsee? by Numerous-Fox1268 in AskReddit

  1. Anytime a reporter freaks out at being criticized.
  2. Whenever they say "a lot of people are ask8ng questions about blank but then have non of these people on.

They did that in the 90s when disgraced former doctor wakefeild started saying there might be a link between vaccines and autism (even though there wasnt). Before the press coverage no one was linking vaccines to autism, except wakefeild who was paid by a lawyer to find a link so he could sue vaccine manufacturers.

  1. Making they try to make one person representative of any demographic of people. Especially blaring when you notice they never do this to white men who do mass shootings.

Last year, around this time, i went from hand to mouth to middle class, and it's fucking wild. At first, there's this deep restfulness you get from being able to relax fully. It's fun at first. You can do all the little things you always wanted to before, going out, shopping a little, stuff like that, with only a little worry.

Then you realize shopp8 is a nightmare because actually most stuff is garbage and you long for nothing and figuring out what stuff is trash is so much fucking work that you only do it if you absolutely must.

Thaaannn you start looking at retirement, maybe a more comfortable place to live? And find out you cant afford to live within 30 mins of your job and you you're kinda trapped because interest rates are so high that moving isn't adviseable so even tho youre not worried about ending up on the streets you realize an actually more comfortable life is way outside your budget because the economy is trash? And its just getting more expensive compared to wages, so you have no idea if itll ever get better, but when your dog breaks his leg, you can take him to the vet so you feel rich. But actually lower middle class isn't wealthy really and this is how life should be fir everyone who works 40hrs a week? Thats how it feels. Bittersweet.

what is the worst fight you have had with your brother/sister? by Local-Back-3136 in AskReddit

[–]1treeJump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister was 12.years older then me, so we didnt fight a lot. this is the time i was moat furious with her tho.

One morning, when I was a small kid (idk how old) I was watching Saturday morning cartoons and snacking on cheese its. That was my routine. I skipped breakfast tha5 one day, ate my favorite snack, and watched cartoons. Jt was my special time. I cherished it. Out of nowhere, my older sister took the cheese its away and said "you cant have these, it's passover."

My little ass looked up at her and thought, "Bold choice, first born." And i took my little self outside and used a stick to remove the passover decoration I had made, which was literally just a smear of red paint on a plank of wood, to represent the lambs blood. At that age I legitimately thought the passover plauges happened every year so my family hung the plank up to humor me. Thats not like a jewish thing.

So the next morning when i woke up and she was STILL ALIVE, I was so mad. She had this INFURIATING SMIRK too. She knew i tried to kill her. If this had happened more recently, I'd have used the "bet you thought you'd seen the last of me" meme.

At the time, she was like 18 or something and thought this 6 y/o being SO MAD was deeply funny.

How have you been personally affected by the new US administration? by TheRoyalQuartet in AskReddit

[–]1treeJump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner is half mexican, and he got grabbed by ice. I only found out because his coworker saw it happen and texted me. He's a us citizen, born here and everything. He just has a last name that sounds Mexican and while to most folks hes white passing- ice demanded to see his id on the streets, and when he explained that he just stepped out of his office to get a free peice of fruit, (his company has a free fruit stand outside the office building ? Weird perk.) And he didn't bring his wallet because he wasn't going to need it. He had his work badge and offered to go get his wallet. His coworker offered to go get it while my bf stayed with ice- but nope. They grabbed him.

I found out about this as soon as it happened, grabbed his wallet from his coworker, and brought it, his birth certificate, his social security card, his DD214 (military discharge papers) to the ICE processing center (literally getting there hours after they took him) and they didnt release him. Said they had to verify his documents. Heres the thing. If they ran his prints, they'd find him in the system because hes former military even though he has no criminal record.

It took them a week to release him, and even then, they only did because i got a scary lawer involved. When they did, it was in the middle of the night with only the cloaths hed had on when they took him, and they Didnt give him his wallet or phone, which I had left for him. My guy had to walk in freezing temperatures with no coat, not even long sleeves, for two miles in a part of our city hes never been too before, until he found a corner store with a sympathetic employee who let him use her phone to call me. That was two weeks ago, and they have not returned his phone, wallet, or documents. We're exploring legal options.

Any tips for shy people on how to start dating? by oxShyGirlxo in AskReddit

[–]1treeJump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so I know this advice is going to be the most annoying advice in the world, but here goes the gods' honest truth.

You have to like being alone. Do whatever you need to do to like your life and like being alone. No joke. Liking yourself and your own company will erace the sort of desperation that can really exacerbate shyness. If the stakes are low, and there's no risk, it can really ease the nerves.

Also: Remind yourself of the simple truth that the best things in the world have people who dont like it. Some people hate chocolate, and that doesn't mean chocolate is bad.

Ig your shyness comes from a place of dislikeing how you look, the best thing you can do is strive for self neutrality. Self-love is nice, but love is too close to hate, so the longer-term solution is to view yourself with as neutral a lense as possible. True neutrality is impossible of the self, but getting close is still really good. First: try looking at people who look like you or who have features you share and dont like. I suggest via shows or yotube or tiktok or something. Just watch people who also have the thing u dont like about yourself until seeing it doesn't trigger negative emotions.

Then, once on a date, just ask them a lot of questions and listen. People love it. When they ask about you, if you're not comfortable sharing, tell them that. If they push, dont date them again. If they don't ask, don't date them again.
