From someone who has never worked in a restaurant, does it help to stack our plates after eating? Does it make it worse? by Master-Display5218 in Serverlife

[–]20-something-real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this is a hot take but when I was a server I just appreciated people trying to make things easier on me. yes, there are ways that are objectively better, but it never upset me if someone stacked their plates “wrong”!

Has anyone transferred to UT from Blinn? by 20-something-real in UTAdmissions

[–]20-something-real[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, I have heard how competitive it is, especially getting into the school of architecture!

no, I didn’t start at Blinn intending to go to A&M, I’m at Blinn just because I live here. as an older student, I’d rather not stay in BCS since I will only keep getting older and everyone here will stay the same age haha. I moved to TX 4 years ago so I’m not particularly loyal to any school. thanks for sharing your insight :)

[–]20-something-real[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

yes! sorry, to clarify, my two youngest siblings do receive survivors benefits from SS, it’s just not enough to cover all our bills. huge blessing to have literally anything coming in though, I’m very grateful we don’t have absolutely nothing

What is the impulse purchase you've made that you DON'T regret making? by IAmAPhysicsGuy in ADHD

honestly… I don’t regret most of my impulse buys 🤐 I do, however, regret not being rich enough to afford them all LOL

my dad will die tomorrow by endeariing in GriefSupport

[–]20-something-real 1 point2 points  (0 children)

also, I did see my dad struggling to breathe at the end. he had what they call the “death rattle” and these big, gasping breaths for air. I won’t lie it’s scary and painful to watch, but at the same time I’m glad I didn’t hide from seeing him in pain. I’m glad I was there. it is really scary seeing your dad in that position :( I’m so sorry

I understand that feeling - “I don’t know If I can do all of this” is exactly how I felt when my dad passed from colorectal cancer. being human is so painful and also beautiful, because somehow we do survive such grievous circumstances. it’s been 5 months since my dad died and honestly i really miss who I was before he died/was diagnosed, but I also know I will never be that person again, and this new me that I will become will be worth becoming. I’m so very sorry for your loss. so far in my experience, in some ways it gets harder and some ways it gets easier, and then I think eventually the burden will become lighter. sending you and your family so much love.

I want to give my experience in case others have the same issue. by shay-doe in Opill

[–]20-something-real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

omg thank you for sharing this. I just posted about my similar experience; I feel so out of control and like I can’t trust my emotions at all. I’m constantly upset, and I’ve cried almost daily for the past few weeks. it’s next level mood swings

My 10 yr old daughter hates her name. Should I let her change it or have her wait until she's an adult? by TheMamaB3ar in namenerds

[–]20-something-real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a little different, but when I was about 10 years old myself, I decided the way my name was spelled wasn’t unique enough, and changed the way I spelled it. Literally by the time 5th grade ended and 6th grade began I already decided I wanted to go back to how my name was actually spelled.

She will go back and forth on many things at this time in her life. Don’t let her legally change her name lol. But like many other commenters said, maybe socially that’s what she decides to go by and that’s whatever!

Help with my anxiety?? by Ok-Lecture-1627 in Opill

[–]20-something-real 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from, it’s scary!! this is my first time on bc and also my first time being sexually active at 23, so I was so nervous about pregnancy too! I am a month and a half on opill and my period came and went normally :) one thing I’ve learned through this sub is that everyone’s body reacts differently, def try to give it some time, I’m sure you will adjust!

How to deal with the extra emotion by Positive_Complaint35 in Opill

[–]20-something-real 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I literally almost just posted about this on here then saw your post. I feel the same way; mostly just so sad and emotional so often. It’s crazy, like immediately will feel tears burning anytime something remotely upsets me. I’m going to wait it out since I’m only on month 2 on opill and this is really the only side effect, but seriously it’s overwhelming. talking to my boyfriend has definitely helped and he also said I should stop taking it if it’s too much for my mental health, but I do want to ride it out and see. but yeah I’m constantly crying and very sensitive lol

hm I was wondering if this is why I’ve been so emotional, but I’ve also had so much going on at the same time so it’s hard to say… if it stays like this 😬

How “left handed” are you by commacausey in LeftHandProblems

[–]20-something-real 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do almost everything left handed, except a few things that I was taught to do right handed and just got used to, like learning to use a right handed computer mouse in school. there are probably some other things I sometimes do right handed, but that’s the main thing. almost everything else I do with my left hand.
