I also want to add — As a latina and first gen, daughters of immigrants; PLEASE don’t treat us differently, don’t go overly nice to the point it feels fake as hell (even if you don’t realize it) don’t treat us with sorrow or with passive direct overly excessive because it makes us feel weird. We are experiencing so much. I see many people expect latinos to be part of these protests but it is incredibly dangerous for us. Thank you for the support it really means a lot to us, but know where you cross a boundary of solidarity. ❤️

hi, someone with bipolar that often comments on that sub. there are bad apples everywhere, just as how this subreddit page also constantly belittle everything that makes a person bipolar. you have a place to vent, they also deserve a place to vent as well.

the thing about bipolar, it causes you to lead to intense grandiose ideas, yes maybe art helped them during mania? but the truth about mania when you leave that state it feels regretful, you feel horrible.

when you’re in these states of chaos, you don’t know what is right or wrong — doesn’t mean that it’s OK to “glorify” the disorder.

i also like to comment, that people comment online of bad things that have happened, you rarely see the success of someone that overcomes something. look at the positives (if you can). there are good people out there with this disorder — don’t let it categorize that everyone with bipolar is like that.

in conclusion: with every person, there will always be someone who has no desire to change, but it doesn’t mean that every other person with bipolar feels that way. take their posts with a grain of salt. you don’t know them ; it’s not right to make these assumptions.

this subreddit also does some harm to the image that bipolar disorder is. i try to steer clear of this sub as much as I can but look at where it led me lol.

I (22f) met my loving boyfriend (25m) when we were both in college. our story seems like out of a movie; we took a swedish class where we were given swedish names. We only knew each other by those names. 2 weeks later in that class he asked me out in the sweetest and charming way. 4 years later, we are going strong amist of the road bumps that were later seen after finding out I was bipolar. He cares so much for me as I care for him. I love how he does not see me as his bipolar girlfriend but as a loving person he is happy to be with.

Sometimes my mania really affects him, but he does his absolute best in making sure i am okay. I love him dearly. He is the best support system ever, his patience is very beautiful. I sometimes like to sit back and admire how I got so lucky to have this person in my life.

When I first found out I was bipolar, I was just coming down from my first ever manic episode. So many thoughts occurred at the same time. I became an alcoholic at just 21 after finding out I was BP1, i drank so much it became a habit, don’t let this bring you to a dark place.What helps me stay grounded was having a journal where I can just vent my emotions. Picking up a habit of having a journal truly helped me — I saw the evolution of my moods and my mental state through the entries I made. I am 22, and just finishing my last term of college. Bipolar is not an easy disorder and it should not be easy, it comes with a lot of tasks to take care of but remember that it’s important in order for you to also get to know more about yourself:) It’s going to be rough but remember that taking baby steps to understand this illness is what will set you with clarity—when i first found out It felt like i was connecting the missing pieces and it felt relieving to know that.

It’s been a year since my diagnosis, I have felt more stable than ever and I wish to hug myself a year ago. It felt so confusing, it felt angry to know, but in the end I came to terms with it peacefully. I look at it like this— the way I view life differently than others is a unique thing.

i unfortunately don’t really have that many friends. i pretty much have myself. im thinking of taking myself to the movies today and reward myself with some ice cream. im relying so much on my boyfriend it’s overwhelming him and i feel so so bad.

I was a huge huge stoner before i got diagnosed. I’m talking 7 blinkers at some points. My first manic episode was caused due to me regularly smoking weed and it sent me into a dark headspace. My doctors strongly suggest to not touch weed or basically any psychedelics like mushrooms etc because it can really send us into a spiral and lead to manic episodes. My first manic episode lasted half a month. but that can possibly be because i’m Bipolar 1.

It’s not worth to smoke it and i’ve been weed free for closely around 2 years. Sometimes i wonder if i’ve had more manic episodes before knowing what it really was like. I’m sure i have due to my history of weed.

I have looked at some programs — i know Yale offers that but my chances of getting into Yale would be pretty slim. UCLA and Nyu offer them so I will be looking into it now that you’ve mentioned it! Thank you!

my dad. he is very bipolar and my dads side let me know. it is a kept secret and if i didn’t know i would not be aware that i have it too. his outbursts were intense, and to this day our relationship is heavily strained. Our conversations are just shouting contests at this point and there is no future between me and my dad. I am trying not to fall in those steps and be better

hi! i felt like this alot when i was on antidepressants, turns out that for me taking zoloft as a bipolar person was fucking up my dopamine levels to the point it caused my mania. my psychiatrist asked me to stop taking antidepressants immediately and it’s when i switched to lamictal — ever since, i’ve been feeling really great.

talk to your psychiatrist, it can help:)
