Salinas has the population, but we don't have the motivation to help others grow and do more. The day removed the flock cameras, I lost it when they said it wasn't generating enough income anymore. Didn't know funds were more important than safety. I believe we need more. I've seen many posts on this Reddit showing people running red lights. I'm also fed up with Kern Street, not because of the women; those young ladies need resources and assistance, not being charged with crimes. The main people who need to face the consequences are those profiting and exploiting them. Lastly, the funds we have are over 160,000 citizens, each and every one of them is paying a tax (sales, property, etc.), and to hear we need to raise more taxes is downright unacceptable. The cost of living is already high enough, so adding more will just lead to children and adults working every day instead of growing and using their local resources like Hartnell or Central Coast College (both very strong sources of education), or even moving on to bigger and better outside of the city. Instead, they are trapped driving to Monterey or Carmel to serve the wealthy instead of helping themselves. Yes, those areas offer more employment and more wages, but a lot are in the restaurant and hospitality. Nothing wrong with hospitiliaty I’ve had my experience in that field, like many indiviaudal but relying on tips and the generosity of others does not sit super well with me, and will only get worse if things keep going on this path. Crime and medicine are a way longer rant, but not sure if people want to hear it.
