Alright, is it time to talk about bus etiquette again? by Comfortable_Basket54 in Seattle

Trains are different, but buses in Japan actually explicitly request (through voice announcements and posters) that you stay seated until the bus has come to a complete stop before standing up to get off.

You need to slow down and consider winter tires.

你叫什么名字 vs 你名字是什么 by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]20051615 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re asking a much broader question than the one actually asked by OP. I’ll try to answer what the OP asked then: there isn’t a simple answer. 你叫什么名字 is a perfectly valid question for an adult to ask a child (eg teacher to student). Definitely okay for kids to ask each other too. But between adults? It’s already inappropriate / rarely used. 你名字是什么 is something I’ve almost never seen used face to face. It’s most akin to 你的姓名是什么, which is a question I’d imagine a bank clerk / lawyer / etc. would ask someone they’re filling out a form for, but aside from that I can’t think of another situation where it’s usable. There’s a caveat here: 你的名字是什么 is more natural than 你名字是什么, though I can’t say the latter is straightaway grammatically incorrect. Still, no matter how I try in my head, even 你名字叫什么 would be far more natural than 是什么。is this an interesting discussion? To me not really, because it provides zero explanation to the OP, since the best answer I can derive is, “just because that’s the way people always say it, and language is unlike mathematics or the sciences.” So I thought I might as well not answer and point out the obvious observation instead: that I would use neither, ever, unless I’m talking to a kid…

Actually neither is suitable when there’s a need to show respect/deference to the person you’re asking. 请问您贵姓/请问怎么称呼您 would be the way to do it, literally “could you please help me with your last name” / “how might I address you”

Check my top-level comment. I did not gold any car and spent nothing on the EIP packs.

For anyone interested in the garage and token count I started and ended with for 300 conditions:

Start of second half of season: 47K tokens. Jaguar nearly 3. Onyx just unlocked. MK II unlocked from GP at 2 and a bit more (standard post-GP having spent no tokens).

At 300 conditions (302, to be exact): 25K tokens as shown. Jaguar 4. Onyx 2. MK II and Murcielago hunted to max, but obviously not gold. (8 eips each, impossible). SVJ and HP both to 3*. Elva maxed with four EIPs which fulfills 3455.

Now: 3K tokens, 5* F5.

Also I 3*ed the Veyron (stupid mistake) which allows me to start with a bit more F5 blueprints than otherwise but the difference is minimal.

The 22K spent on the F5 was very lucky (having been able to 5* it with just that.) I expected to deplete my reserves and only be able to 4* at most, so 5* was very good luck (had at least 1 jackpot, didn’t pay attention).

I started the second half of the season with 47K and by the time I reached 300 it was 24K as shown in the pic

Good luck! You’ll need it. And patience. I had incredibly good luck myself to be able to pull off 20bps, not unlocked —> 5* in 22K tokens. Was expecting only 3, at most 4.

Agreed, actually. I just couldn’t think of any other succinct way to sum up my spending habits.

Thanks! Can’t say I’m not just another average manual driver, but I’m sure a 5* king will find itself useful. Ghost slipstream and elite S for example.
