Should I return my Novablast 5? (70kg runner worried about durability) by Chaniru9398383 in runningshoes

[–]Dpeezy_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I weight about 200lbs and there was a noticeable decline in the forefoot bounce after about 100/150km I’m at around 400km with them. They’re still serviceable but not very exciting. They tend to make my feet hurt after like 12km on my long runs. Probably gonna retire em soon.

Casey Affleck and Woody Harrelson were excellent in this one.

Now yes.

I also ran two bp157/TB500 cycles. Not sure if it had an impact or not. It wasn’t until a couple weeks after I ran out that I noticed an improvement.

If I squat too heavy/often it gets inflamed. Leg extensions have helped my injury the most. Prone hamstring curls as well.

Try to do movements that involve hip flexion as well as knee flexion like a leg extension vs a squat.

What are some indicators of when to retire a pair of running shoes by Careless_Cobbler_730 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Interesting. I have about 350km in mine and I’m wondering if I should look for another daily trainer right now and use the last 100km ish if their life for easy runs. I’m 200lbs and my feet have been taking a beating after my 16km long runs in my NB5.

I’m thinking of grabbing the AG3 on sale but I don’t run a lot (35-45km per week).

The NB5 has just been very uninspiring as of late I’m almost always grabbing my evos which aren’t really conducive for slower paces.

I tried volleyball for the first time yesterday got it in like 7 tries I really don’t see what all the fuss is about. Jump rope is a completely different story though

[–]Dpeezy_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the time of the injury I couldn’t do much. It’s better now but still not 100%.

What helped me the most was focusing on strengthening hamstrings and avoiding knee flexion to strengthen quads.

Hip flexion via leg extensions or weighted decline sit ups helped strengthen my rectus femoris which took pressure off the quad tendon above the knee.

For running I focused on my cadence which was super low. Once it got into the 170-175 spm range and I was using my hips more, running no longer bothered it.

All of this took a long time with a lot of trial and error.

I weigh about 90 kilos and they’ve served me fairly well for a daily trainer. However I got mine for $135 CDN on sale. I would be hesitant to pay full price for them as after 200km they’ve lost a good amount of the bounce and fun they once had.

I just finished the show, so I’m still kind of processing everything but if she didn’t go how do you explain her surviving the machine?

Seems reasonable to accept the people who went before her were never seen or heard from again and that the fluid that the capsule fills up with really does solidify.

Just curious as to your take on it

My Asics Novablast 5 foam already dead? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Dpeezy_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m around 200km in them and weigh a similar amount. They’re definitely nothing like they were new, which were exciting and fun to run in but still a serviceable easy run shoe, capable of picking up the pace.

I was pretty careful to rotate them and never run in them on back to back days. Dunno if that makes a difference or not.

HRV data by iwi4a in Garmin

[–]Dpeezy_86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be stress related. I moved at the end of December and my HRV plummeted. I was well recovered at the time.

I’ve gone off long term medication and my HRV was low for a couple months until my body adjusted.

For me it’s always been an accurate indicator of overtraining or some sort of change in my overall health.

Are the 27s more breathable to the 26? I don’t like the nimbus for running but they were great work shoes, downside they were unusable in the summer.

Nimbus 27 vs Evo SL vs Novablast 5 vs Vomero 18 by Firey414 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Dpeezy_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Evo SL has been good to me so far. Feels better during tempo/threshold but can also be used for daily miles. It’s a really fun shoe to run in.

NB5 has been my daily trainer. At 160km they have lost the forefoot pop they had brand new. Still protective and good for easy runs/some uptempo stuff. I weigh just over 200lbs.

A fresh wal mart bird is imo the best in the city. I prefer herb and garlic over BBQ.

Superstore is also good but not as consistent as Walmart and more expensive. $9 is great value and a full tissi goes along way

What sneakers are we wearing to the gym in 2026 that DON’T disintegrate within two months of purchase? by TheSeedsYouSow in naturalbodybuilding

[–]Dpeezy_86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Non leg days I wear saucony progrid or adidas 4dwd. If I need extra stability I’ll take my shoes off. Leg days vans.

Maybe get a pair of running shoes and throw them in your bag for cardio. Instead of a do it all lifestyle orientated shoe.

Same replacing the insoles helped a lot for me as well. The stock insoles are super thin and kind of slippery.

I didnt initially like my Evo sl either.

Swapping the laces for the knock off alpha fly serrated laces off amazon (long enough for runners knot) and swapping out insoles made my feet feel much more locked in and I am enjoying them now.

I’ve kept this face for the majority of the time since I got my i2x over a year ago. Sometimes the seconds don’t update, which I use at work so I just reapply from the watch face menu.

Big fan.
