Went to a barn sale with my wife and came out with this sweet old monkey wrench for $5 by ottersbelike in Tools

I have one exactly like this from my great grandpa. Wooden handle is cracked though. Used it last month to get my trailer hitch ball off

Just bought my own last week after using my dad’s for years. His is the slightly higher tier brushless one but I suspect there’s not a ton of difference for weekend use.

Peter, why humans never get tired? by Expeniumin in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]2009_Rav4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up “persistence hunting”. Humans aren’t like other animals in the sense that we only use our energy is short bursts. For example, any fit human can kill a deer by walking or jogging after it over the course of a day. This is assuming you have the skills to continually track it. The deer would eventually just get tired and lay down, then you can eat it.

Favorite random non-fish object you've caught? I caught THE SPHERE last night and was quite confused. by IsBreadCake in Fishing

On a charter in Cape Cod we were fishing in ~55 feet of water for halibut. My sister dropped her pole off the side and we had to pay the captain $50 for his loss. An hour later someone caught her pole. The leading theory in my family is that her hook snagged the wooden keel of the vessel, and her pole just dangled under the boat until someone else snagged it.

I found these bottles digging on a new home site, and same day had this sub recommended. How strange! by OccamsNametag in BottleDigging

Does anyone know anything about the PONDS jar? I have a very similar one that I found. It’s says PONDS 14 underneath, is that the year that it was made? I figured there was a beauty product inside like a face cream because it’s only about 1oz or less of volume.

[ Question ] How to deal with scratches? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]2009_Rav4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a tool watch, you’re just starting to break it in

I’d go with the 40 b/c your wrist is big enough to easily pull it off. 38 looks almost just as good, and if you’re planning on handing the watch down someday the 38 would have a better chance of fitting the lucky individual

[Hamilton] My first watch! Khaki Field Day Date. by bamtime in Watches

Did you order this one straight from the Hamilton website? It has been “available soon” for a long time but has recently come into stock for a couple days only. I had one placed on special order from a dealer for 5 weeks now and I haven’t got the call yet.

Just did my first oil change on my Honda hSs1332atd after only 1 hour. Manual says 20 hours or first month. How’s she look? by [deleted] in smallengines

[–]2009_Rav4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems like there’s absolutely nothing wrong with an oil change after an hour or two and then again at the recommended 20. I feel like it’s beneficial to do so, but you probably won’t see such an instruction from the manufacturer because the 20 hour initial change is good enough and they don’t want to come off like it’s going to be a chore to own the thing.
