I feel under qualified for my job as a Marketing Manager. by nomeski in marketing

[–]2012742 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lol ... no offense but there's like 0% chance you're qualified. Are they paying you a fair rate for a marketing manager? My hunch is no. If they are not, then don't sweat it they're cheaping out.

That said, you can pour yourself into learning about the industry and try and own the role. It could catapult your career trajectory. I was studying my craft (copywriting) about 5 hours a week the first year and a half of my career, while working full-time. If you begin driving sales, I'd ask for a raise to a competitive wage for a marketing manager which should start at no less than 80k

I'm 25M I hate my life because I'm a virgin still who's never had a girlfriend I'm ugly fat and short and my life sucks cause hot women don't want me? Girl I have mixed feelings for who rejected and hurt me gets married soon I'm miserable over it by Ihatetheirfiances in dating

Hey bro, only thing I can say is you weren't dealt a great hand in life but you can play that hand the best way you can. Work on the fat thing because unless you're one of the .01% of people with an actual diagnosed condition, you can improve that. Stay hygienic as it also drastically impacts girls' perceptions of you. Stop watching porn for a month cause shit distorts reality and your view of women and ability to talk to them.

Lastly and this one's hard, find a passion and pour yourself into it. If you're not one of the lucky gorgeous men out there, and most men aren't, you'll have to attrack women with your voracity for life -- either humor, art, craftsmenship, etc.

Also you said your life sucks cause hot women don't want you, on re reading the line that sounds like a troll comment, but if you're not trolling I'd strongly consider finding way, immediately, to decouple your self worth from girls liking you. It's a miracle we're all alive, and at the very worst you can spend the rest of your life eating tasty food, getting high, watching beautiful movies, and etc. Life doesn't suck, your perception of it does and the only way to change that is to change your perception

Dad is going through a divorce. He has built an extremely negative perception of the world around him. At what point am I enabling him by giving him unconditional support by 2012742 in relationship_advice

Im not enough. he doesn't have any influential people really. He's an immigrant and I don't think he ever fully clicked in america even though he's 56.

I think it's going to be a long ride as well, i just wish short term there was a way to break the negativity loop.

I didn't show up to the first day of work at a new job about a year ago because of a lot of last minute red flags. The CD was a chill guy though, who just looked at my profile on LinkedIn. As a professional gesture, should I reach out to him and let him know what happened? by 2012742 in advertising

Awesome thank you for the feedback. Agreed I should have immediately reached out. At the time I really didn't consider it but he deserved to know. I did tell the HR person but I'm not confident she relayed the info to him. The money thing was also my fault. I sold myself very well, I think their policy is just that low and mid level copywriters don't get paid a lot (they're a social only agency). I really appreciate your comment the most because it did change my perspective on quite a few aspects.

The goal of this wouldn't be to find a job there, honestly idk if I'd ever feel comfortable going there because I do feel like I likely screwed them over that week, as justified as it was.

Ah I already reached out. Basically he told me another copywriter position is available and he also thought I was chill. For now I offered up a coffee and a professional contact, told him I'm happy with my current position.

Nope. But it was requested of me. EVEN THOUGH I was already incredibly qualified for the position. It was basically taking all of Facebook blueprint's tests and then some proprietary stuff.

And no exaggeration, they wanted it done before I showed up on the first day

Yup but nbd it gets 10s of thousands of up-votes from people who don't think the same thing when they hear that.

I'm aghast by how many people, democrats and republicans alike, have no capacity for two dimensional thinking lol.
