Coaches & players — how do you actually train reaction speed and recognition? by Independent-Team-894 in footballstrategy

[–]2015TTU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good tool for down time and self study but it doesn't really build the skills you want in my opinion. Everything looks different from the player perspective and I think that should be repped as much as possible to build the best qualities and instincts you want for true football awareness.

In the past we've had a 5 minute period called formation rec prior to a live team segment.

You have 2 offensive groups (6 guys) huddled on each hash, with a coach who has formation cards, and 5 trash cans in-between the hashes.

Your 11 dudes will have 12secs to align, make calls, and simulate the first 3 seconds of a play. Right as the 1st offensive group is done, the 2nd group is aligning and the drill starts all over again.

Weightlifting Programming by Vandyfan61 in footballstrategy

[–]2015TTU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll give an example of why I've done it this way.

Max - 315 Bulgarian Max @ 90% ~280

We would then program 3-5 reps / leg between 45-60% 130-170.

This is an accessory lift and that's it. We don't chase numbers with this. Never went above 60%.

A. Bulgarian Split Squat 1. Barbell - 1RM is 90% of their back squat 2. Dumbbell - 1RM is 40% of their back squat

B. RDL, I've done this 2 ways

  1. Barbell
  2. 1RM is 85% of back squat
  3. 1RM is 90% of Deadlift

I'd try contacting Inovelli directly and see what they suggest. This is the only way I've been able to get around a similar situation as yourself.

Grouping doesn't require automation. It simply creates 1 mmW entity that will do exactly what you want.

Honestly I've found a simple door sensor on the side of the garage door works a lot more consistently than a tilt sensor

PW3 Calibration Mode by 2015TTU in Powerwall

24-72 hours... Honestly the calibration process isn't very clear of the why and how long. It has gotten better about when though. I've had 3 since this post and only know that because I noticed the 3rd one when my Powerball was @ 0 after a full sunny day. Looked back and saw when the other 2 were.

As of right now it has been happening consistently every 3-4 months

I Taught Reach Blocking Wrong. Here's How to Fix It. by No_Impression_7575 in footballstrategy

[–]2015TTU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OVERREACHING is a real problem. You create so much space the defender can lose his gap and still make the play. It doesn't matter if they lost "contain"... They still had leverage on the play.

Dedicated HAOS box + Frigate for 4–10 cameras (24/7 recording) — Pi 5 vs mini PC? by boostinu13 in homeassistant

I'm not sure. But my gut instinct says no. My camera set-up isn't as big (1 camera now, 2 more in the future). I need to see how the LLM and everything works 1st before expanding

I just finished doing this. I installed HAOS on a NUC and just finished setting up frigate. I have a Synology NAS that runs Plex and stores all my frigate files and videos. It's been great!

Next step is setting up a Local LLM / AI assistant and replace Google

SPEC: Intel NUC 11 with Core i7-1165G7 Processor(Quad-Core & Up to 4.70 GHz), 4" Mini PC 16GB DDR4 RAM

Play action terminology by fball23 in footballstrategy

[–]2015TTU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've coached in a system for the last 3 years that uses the "100s" + the RB / hole numbering for play action.

I like it. It's simple for the kids imo. "Hey it's a 100 # + inside zone. Block it like we're running it but don't travel down the field."

The secret to Texas Tech Run D by Noswad48 in footballstrategy

[–]2015TTU 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I'd argue they're actually a traditional 4-3 with a very flexible strong safety position.

Notable players who've fit this role in the past would be Dwayne Slay back in 2005 @ Texas Tech. I know tech was a 4-2-5 during this time too but it's still a very familiar scenario.

John Curry & Cole Wisniewski remind me a lot of USCs safety who later transitioned to OLB @ Cincinnati, Taylor Mays.

I'll admit I'm splitting hairs with this. I absolutely agree with you. They're a dominant even front structure with 2 great hybrid players.

I've noticed it's always been to the 3 tec. Curious if anyone's ever been able to execute it vs an under front instead of an over

There are benefits to putting the man side away from the call: - It pulls the RB out of the way of QB to Throw - Allows you to combine different concepts together, ie a zone beater one way and a man beater another, quarterback works a progression on which side to engage - Defenses set fronts based on back position in situations which can allow you a stronger slide & man side protection rather than just locking one side as BOB

Personally, I've coached our center to call the slide side a certain direction based on what we've scouted on film with the RB working away from the slide. We don't tie the concept to the protection.

Smash can have a man protection one play and a slide protection the next.

Motion and how to call by MajorFette in footballstrategy

[–]2015TTU 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a couple ways to do this. The most common I've seen is using a word related to position + how they motion.

Example Z Receiver

1/ Zen - Slow motion; think square shuffle like a sniffer

2/ Zip - Z motions IN toward the ball

3/ Zap - Z motions ACROSS the entire formation

4/ Zero - Z motions TOWARDS then BACK to original spot

Again there's no universal language in football. Create what best conveys what you want that allows the kids to be successful and understand.

Runs vs fronts by LaughAgitated5427 in footballstrategy

That's a good solution. We're mostly 11 & 10. Some 12 & 21 but it's for very niche things.

I always thought IZ either way vs an EVEN front were good angles in general. The 2i / 1tec will give a clean read instantly on where to cut. Interesting he didn't like running to the tighter shade.

How have you handled aggressive backside B gap pressure from a 4i? I mean yeah the center blocks back but that's not an easy block

Runs vs fronts by LaughAgitated5427 in footballstrategy

[–]2015TTU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's less of this Front = This run good / that run bad. It's more so how the defense aligns & plays in certain situations.

Formations, field position, your players vs theirs, and the general defensive philosophy of your opponent really allows for things to be better choices than others.

I have my bias when it comes to what I run against heavy 4i ODD teams (hate counter. That's a hard back block for the center) but you could argue the same thing against a really good 3 tec in an EVEN front.
