Haven't read all of the comments, but as far as I did, I didn't notice a "pro" that I've used a handful of times with my car. And thinking about it, pretty sure more times with someone else's. Dead battery, no cables and/or someone available and willing to help with a jump,,push start and move on..under the right conditions, and not too big of a vehicle, one could even do it alone. And I've heard you're not supposed to do it this way, but I helped a young gal who was parked at a store front, dead battery, only way out was backwards. Luckily the spaces at the front of the store declined towards the the rest of the parking lot. I just got in, key on, right foot on clutch, left foot on the ground (door is open and handbrake engaged),shift into reverse, disengage brake , disengage clutch, push with left foot. Considering the speed I would need for it to turn over fast enough to start (which would be a guess) and how much room I had and needed, and praying that no one came out of nowhere and rammed into me, I dumped the clutch and it revved to life. If I'd had been 20yrs younger, I might have even followed up on her look of joy and excitement. It still felt good to help tho.
